lanzarote
I have just returned from lanzarote we stayed in costa teguise which is very windy but still hot we visited puerta del carmen several times as it only a bus ride away that was really hot and busier with a lovely beach we also got the bus to arrecife the capital which has a nice beach and if you go to the only tall hotel to the cafe on top floor the views are amazing . playa blanca is also a lively resort with lots of shops and bars .The grand tour i would recommend its about 50 euros but you get to see some amazing sites and you can ride a camel too . all in all the volcano in april did us a favor as we got 2 weeks away instead of 1 and it was alot hotter in july than april and we now have a great base tan before we go turkey in sept.
If i were to go back to lanzarote i would probably stay in puerta del carmen as seemed more to do, also teguise market on sunday worth a visit but dont be fooled that you are getting a bargain because most things you can buy in shops cheaper if you haggle. Also noticed the drivers there are so different to spain you only need to look at zebra crossing and they stop except when spain won world cup all the island driving round waving and beeping horns the atmosphere was amazing

Nice review, it does sound like you had a great time. Am sure you will love your holiday in Turkey, where are you staying?

Without geography, you're nowhere.

RE: lanzarote
hi Spice. we went to lanzarote about 18 months ago and stayed in puerto del carmen. we did many things like you did, the market and the other places you went to. we did the tour and thought it was amazing. my husband laughed as i brought home the handful of hot gravel that we were given, most people threw there's down as it was hot but i tossed it from hand to hand til it cooled then put it in an empty fag packet and brought it home.

Hi Spice

Welcome back, nice review. Lanzarote sounds nice I have never been before, from your review I may stick it on my list of places to visit.

I have been to Gran Canaria a few times. Depends what you like but we prefer Mas Palomas, we visited Playa De Ingles and it was a dirty scruffy place, but that is where all the night life is which we went to most nights but would not stay there. Mas Palmoas is lovely though and they have some lovely beach front restaurants, you can get a taxi into Playa De Ingles for a few about 5 Euro.
