Hotels
Just a thought, we've stayed in quite a few hotels in Benidorm, salou, Almeria and Majorca.
The best must be The Avenida and Diplomatic in Benidorm, the worst The Golf Trinidad in Roquetas de Mar, Almeria.

Food has improved over the years, and I even drink the tap water now, though my wife prefers to buy bottled.

RE: Hotels
Visited the Avenida when stayed at their apartments, as you prob know if you stay in the apartments you have to use the hotels pool. I think the avenida looks really nice. I have had a few drinks in the bar on an afternoon.

It really is a superb hotel Steve, the rooms are excellent, the food is great too. Only downside is that it's a small restaurant and when it's busy you can wait a while getting your food. But we sometimes eat out in the evening. Brekky is by far the best I've had anywhere.

We had a meal in the avenida, as if you stay at Avenida apartments you can purchase a discounted ticket from thereception to take over to the hotel. I enjoyed the food aswell, but I can see what you mean about if being small. We went early December, as you prob know alot of Spanish people go at that time of year restaurant was very busy.

That is the only problem, my wife gets irritated waiting so long. No problems at breakfast it's just that evening meal time. I don't like waiting until 7.30pm for my meal either. So eat out on some evenings.

When you go next time I recommend Paneils if you haven't already tried it. It is very nice food, and also there very reasonable prices on Rose Cava makes it even better.

RE: Hotels
Have you ever tried Rays No1 chippy in the old town Steve? It's not cheap but it's a beautiful meal.
We always have just one meal there every time we go.

We stayed at the Royal (15th/22nd May) food not fantasic , but a great hotel in a quiet area and very friendly staff .
It was our first visit and we'd heard all the negitive comments about Benidorm , well they're all rubbish we had a great time and we will visit again , had a few drinks in the Piccadilly bar (1 euro a pint) went to MundoMar granddaughter loved it also took a boat trip to Calpe a nice day out , had a more than a few pints in the Red Lion bar . lol
