The textile and printing machinery from the Mill is kept in brilliant working condition for visitor demonstrations and you can enjoy looking around the beautiful Moorside House where the Mill manager lived and the smaller mill-workers houses which have been decorated according to the time in history. Bradford is also host to the excellent Science and Media Museum and there is bags to learn here about British history and culture through media. There are seven huge floors of exciting exhibitions featuring photography, television, animation, videogaming, the internet, radio and a huge IMAX theatre (the UK's first as it happens) and loads of interactive activities to get your hands on. There is also a cafe, bar and two cinemas which show cult classics and latest releases so make sure that you leave enough time and plan your visit here carefully! Taking more of a literary turn, the Bronte Parsonage Museum (just outside Bradford in Haworth) is the former home of authors Charlotte, Emily and Anne and where they lived and wrote their famous novels. I had a grandmother who lived and grew up in Haworth and was more than a little obsessed with the Brontes so I spent many a holiday lurking around the parsonage and it is a really interesting place to visit. The museum features Charlotte Brontes original writing desk - where she wrote Jane Eyre amongst others - as well as letters, diaries and keepsakes belonging to the Bronte family. They often hold talks, readings and film showings here too. There are also some lovely parks in Bradford to spend time outdoors and unwind. Lister Park has plentiful flower gardens, a boating lake, tennis and basketball courts, a playground for younger children and the beautiful Indian and Islamic inspired Mughal Water Garden. Bradfords City Park surrounds the City Hall and has lovely manicured gardens, market stalls and a large pool housing the highest fountain in Britain reaching 30 metres high; people paddle here in the summer months.
