Manchester is up there with one of the most exciting places to visit in the UK right now. It is England's second biggest city and is vibrant with art, culture, history and science, not to mention playing host to some world class family attractions. Surrounded by the breathtaking Pennine mountains, this is a buzzing city that attracts visitors from all over the world.
Manchester Museum is well worth a visit and features a gigantic collection of over 4,500,000 items from all over the world. There are several galleries which house collections from all ages of history - from Darwin to Alan Turing - dinosaur skeletons (including the world best preserved T-Rex skull), fossils, mummies from Ancient Egypt, not to mention items from the Industrial Revolution and beyond. There are always visiting exhibitions too, so always look to check what is on when you visit. The Science and Industry Museum is also a fantastic attraction, exploring 250 years of innovations and ideas that started life in Manchester and ended up changing the world. If you want some brilliant engineering on a smaller scale, then visit Manchester's Legoland centre - the ultimate lego playground.
For football lovers, take a tour of the grounds of Manchester United and Manchester City football clubs and explore the history of the beautiful game at The National Football Museum. Apparently David Beckham doesn't live there, which put me off a bit, but it is still well worth a visit.
There is so much to see and do in Manchester - something for everyone - whether you are into sport, culture, good restaurants, science, history or even skiing (check out Chill Factore). It really is one of Englands most exiting cities and if you haven't visited yet, make sure it is on your list!
