**Benton View Shepherds Hut** is located just outside **Exmoor National Park** near the village of Benton, right in the middle of the breathtakingly gorgeous north **Devon** countryside. The very welcoming owners have created an oasis here on their working farm; a small and exclusive one-party **glamping** site, set in beautiful rolling green meadows, with a single **handcrafted shepherds hu**t for two, with fantastic views up to the moor and down to the sea. Another tent is welcome if there are more than two in your party, but the site is exclusively yours for the duration of your stay. The location is very peaceful and wonderfully rural; the Shepherd’s hut sits proudly in the orchard on its cast wheels, with wooden steps leading up to the stable door. It is surrounded by a low picket fence, so you won’t have any friendly goats joining you for dinner, and there is a well kept private garden with a barbeque area and a picnic bench for eating outdoors. Inside the hut there is everything you need; a double bed for two, linen, a kitchenette with gas hob and sink, table and chairs and a log burner (with wood) to keep you cosy on chillier nights. The shower and toilet are in a separate block and there is also access to a larger kitchen with fridge/freezer and microwave should you need it. Nothing has been forgotten. The wood panelled shepherd's hut is beautifully furnished - tasteful but unfussy - with pretty curtains and cushions making it homely and warm, and a welcome pack with a few basics will be there on arrival. Because of the sheep, lambs and goats on the farm, you will have to leave your doggy pal at home for this one….but there will be no shortage of other friendly animals to cuddle if you want to! It is blissfully tranquil at Benton View. Guests are allowed to wander around the 14 acres of farmland, help with the animals or just sit and relax in the peaceful surroundings. For exploring North Devon you could not be in a better place. It is just a few miles from Exmoor National Park, a stunning landscape of wild moors, wooded valleys and secluded walking trails - perfect for hikers - and some wonderful cycling routes too. The **beaches** of North Devon are also very close by, including the sandy stretches at **Ilfracombe**, **Woolacombe** and Putsborough beach at **Croyde** - renowned as one of the cleanest and most beautiful beaches in the south west. Here you can swim and surf or have a go at something wild, like coasteering! For a more relaxing day trip, hop aboard the **Lynton and Barnstaple steam train**; the only steam railway in the UK where you can travel in the actual Victorian carriages that were designed in the 1890’s. Or take the boat from Illfracombe to the National Trust’s **Lundy Island,** home to a fascinating array of wildlife - including **puffins** - and some seriously dramatic scenery. Back at Benton View, relax in your private garden at the Shepherds Hut, fire up the barbeque and watch the sun setting over spectacular scenery. Exmoor was Europe’s first ever International Dark Sky Reserve, which makes it one of the best places in the UK for stargazing; so just sit back, and enjoy the view….. You are welcome to bring a tent for the duration of your booking in the shepherds hut. We do not allow any campers who aren’t connected with the Shepherd Hut so the site remains exclusive. Camping is in addition to the shepherd hut tariff at the rate of £10 per child per night and £15 per adult per night.
