Our charming Shepherd Hut and Drovers Hut, come with a private hot tub on the edge of Exmoor National Park. For 2023 we have our NEW Crinkly Cabin, with private Hot Tub and Sauna, a unique home built, off grid glamping accommodation. We are a small working farm on the edge of the Exmoor National Park, near to the North Devon Coast. Our aim here is to enable you to wind down and reconnect with nature. Our Huts and Cabin have their own firepits, BBQ’s and kitchens so there is no need to share any of these with other guests. We want our visitors to really feel at home on our site and we know just how important the toilet and shower facilities are during any camping holiday. That’s why our washrooms are checked often throughout the day and cleaned twice daily. Thanks to a biomass boiler the showers and washbasins are supplied with an abundance of free hot water and we have year round heating in the toilet block. **Please note that we welcome awnings and cars on site for free.**
Accommodation types
- Drovers Hut — Come and stay in our lovely Drovers Hut, built on an ex-army ammunition trailer, it was bought by a local farmer who planned to turn it into a large trailer for carrying hay bales. We found it in a hedge, covered in ivy and with a tree growing up through it. We bought it, de-treed it and turned it into this lovely, cosy, romantic hut. The Drovers Hut has sleeping for 5-6, including a king-size bed, single bunks and a trestle bed which pulls out from under the main king-size bed. It has a gorgeous country kitchen with a Belfast sink, solid oak worktop, dresser top, two burner gas hob, a table and benches and a wonderful wood burning range stove with oven and hobs above. Lighting is powered by solar panels and candles for added ambience. The kitchen is equipped with pots and pans, utensils, crockery and cutlery. All the beds have comfy memory foam mattresses, and plump pillows and are made up of quality linen. The drovers hut is fitted out beautifully, in a lovely peaceful corner of the field, and has a decking area which has two gates to secure it for dogs or children. The Drovers hut has outdoor seating, a picnic table, a fire pit/ BBQ and a lovely wood-fired hot tub. Adjacent to the hut sits a private bathroom with a flushing loo, hand basin and hot shower. There is access, via a style to a wild garden with a stream running through it. Perfect for, just sitting quietly with nature, exploring, bear hunts or searching for fairies! You can also walk the footpath from the farm, to explore Wistlandpound Reservoir. Well-behaved dogs are permitted at £5 per night, please do not leave dogs in the hut unattended. Please also keep in mind the neighbouring farm animals that live on the premises when bringing your companion. Eggs from the hens are also collected and left in the laundry room, with an honesty box for you to help yourselves, guests are also welcome to collect eggs straight from the next boxes. You will also have access to our toilet block which is heated all year round. Complete with drying wall, electrical sockets, fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. - The Shepherd Hut and Hot Tub — **Please note that we require a minimum of 2 nights when booking this accommodation.** *The shepherd’s hut was traditionally used in the 19th and 20th centuries by shepherds during sheep raising and lambing. They were also used while moving flocks around for “natural fertilizer” purposes.* Our home-built shepherd hut is beautifully equipped with everything you will need for a relaxing, memorable, comfortable stay. There is a comfy king-size bed and a **child bunk** above with memory foam mattresses made up of fresh duvets, plump pillows and beautiful linen. The kitchen area contains a ceramic sink with hot and cold running water, a gas hob, pretty china crockery, and kitchen and cooking utensils. The wood-burning stove will keep you toasty warm and the views from the stable door towards Wistlandpound Reservoir are amazing. The Shepherd Hut is set away on its own and has a fenced garden and gated access to the stream. Outside is a wooden picnic bench, a fire pit and a lovely wood-fired hot tub. Shepherd’s huts often had iron wheels and corrugated iron tops. We’ve built this one ourselves and reinvented it slightly it’s the perfect romantic getaway. Come and live out your childhood gipsy dreams Well-behaved dogs are welcome at £5 per night. Please contact for further information. Camping is also available next to The Shepherds Hut for children or extra adults. There is a double en suite bed and breakfast room in the farmhouse, available for friends or relations who wish to join you, but for whom camping or glamping is not for them. - CL Site - Hardstanding Pitch — At the top of the farm, separate from the glamping and camping fields, closer to the road we have a Caravan and motorhome Club 5 CL site. The Caravan Club site has a licence for 5 caravans or motorhomes all on specially levelled sites, all on hard standings. All have electric hookups, and water and grey waste connections at each pitch. We have a chemical disposal point and members can also use the laundry room and the lovely new toilet and shower block with all-year-round heating
- Grass Pitch — *Back to basics camping just like it used to be!* If you would like to camp in an open field, under the stars, with a small campfire outside your tent, where you can sit and watch the night sky, with a beer in your hand then this is the camping site for you! Our camping fields offer plenty of space. We charge per person, not per pitch, so there is no extra charge for bell tents and you are welcome to bring gazebos or toilet tents. For families, there is plenty of room for children to run and play in the camping field. Children are most welcome to visit the farm animals, we will show you around. Collect freshly laid eggs, from the hens for breakfast. Being close to Exmoor there is very little light pollution; when you are staying remember to look up and see the stars! - Crinkly Cabin with Sauna and Hot Tub — Stay in comfort in our NEW off grid accomodation, The Crinkly Cabin! **Includes Private Hot Tub and Sauna** Can sleep up to 8, but also perfect for couples and young families. The new Cabin (made from shipping containers, converted by ourselves here on the farm) set privately in a 3 acre field next to a babbling stream, at the bottom of the farm where there are lovely views of the surrounding North Devon Countryside. Couples and families can enjoy the peace and tranquillity away from the stresses and strains of everyday life. Walk over the wooden bridge to the Cabin, children can play in the stream, add some more stones to the dam or just run around the 3 acre field. The Crinkly Cabin contains a kitchen with off grid fridge, a two burner gas hob, hot and cold water, we made the kitchen worktop ourselves from concrete with semi-precious stones set in. There is an open plan living area with double doors giving access to the field the cabin is set in. In the living area is a wood burning stove with small oven above. There are two bedrooms each capable of sleeping up to 4. With a kingsize bed in each room, a single day bed with an occasional bed underneath, this bed can be moved from room to room if required. Just outside the door is the shower room with flushing loo, sink and large shower, hot water is provided by a gas boiler. In a secluded area for cabin guests only, is a firepit with bbq plate, wood fired sauna, hot tub and outside seating A short walk away, at the top of the field, past the chickens from whom you are welcome to collect fresh eggs for your breakfast, are more toilets, showers, a bigger fridge freezer, washing machine, tumble drier and electric sockets in case you can’t quite manage off grid for too long.
