All of our pitches offer a waterside camping experience with the tranquil sound of the Croglin beck running past. It is the perfect environment to relax and unwind. 

Large spacious pitches, each with its picnic bench and fire pit mean that you have everything you need to enjoy your stay. 

Each camping pitch comes with your fire pit, great for those summer night BBQs.

If you would like to try some of our pasture-fed meat on your BBQ, orders can be placed and collected from our Farm shop. Firewood and other essentials are available to buy too.

Our facilities are located in 'The Old Cow Shed', just a short walk from the main camping area.

In the shed, you will find:

- toilets
- showers
- washing machine
- fridge freezer
- kettle and toaster
- pool table and tennis table

Big Bertha is a 1973 Airstream land yacht. She has been stylishly renovated to create a unique space with all the comforts of home.

Sleeping 6 people, Big Bertha has everything you need for a luxury stay - a bathroom with a shower and toilet, a well-equipped kitchen, including an oven and fridge freezer.

Outside the airstream overlooking the Croglin Beck, there is a beautiful decking area. This is the perfect place to relax on a summers night by the fire pit.

Trundle along quiet country lanes in a traditional horse drawn gypsy caravan before camping up at one of our secluded camps where you can cook over an open fire paddle in the streams and immerse yourselves in nature and the great outdoors, before nestling up for the night in the cosy gypsy wagon. When inside a gypsy caravan you will have everything you need to relax and have a gorgeous night's sleep.

You will be on nature's doorstep with your feet up by the woodburner, but the experience of the gypsy caravan starts before the threshold. These caravans are like no other and are built with beauty in mind as much from the outside as within. The gypsy caravans will carry off any photo just by being in the background! 

The caravans are fully insulated and there is plenty of storage. Each wagon has its own BBQ/fire pit and rustic seating.

Thacka Lea Caravan Park is located in Penrith, Cumbria which is the heart of the Eden valley and the gateway to the Lake District. It is the perfect base to explore the Lake District and Eden Valley in your touring caravan or motorhome.

We are located at the north end of the small market town of Penrith. Penrith is a historic market town and an attractive tourist centre. Within the town there are many traditional and specialist food, clothing and gift shops as well as many cafes, restaurants and pubs. The museum and castle give a great insight into the history of Penrith. In addition to shopping and history, Penrith has many leisure and sporting facilities to offer as well as good bus and rail transport links for days out around Cumbria.

The toilet and shower block has hot showers and a shaver point. Additional facilities include a washing up area, waste disposal and recycling bins. 

The Park is pet friendly, but dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.

Relax and enjoy the magnificent views and enjoy the direct walking routes from the property onto Hadrian’s Walk. Located only a short drive from the historic market town of Brampton and within easy reach of the city of Carlisle, with its excellent leisure and shopping facilities. Visit Talkin Tarn Country Park, for water sports such as canoeing and open water swimming. Explore Gelt Woods which is an ancient woodland with the River Gelt running through. Discover the Roman ruins at Housesteads, Birdoswald and Vindolanda. Close to the stunning Northern Lakes, Eden Valley and the rugged Scottish Borders.

Through the enclosed garden, you are met with this delightful lodge pod. Perfect for a luxurious romantic glamping experience. On entering the property you will find the comfortable sleeping area with a double bed to the rear of the pod. The lounge area with TV, is the perfect place to relax after a day out exploring the local area. There is a dining table with seating, ideal for romantic gatherings. The kitchen area is well-equipped with electric single ring hob, fridge/freezer and microwave. Next, through the door you will find the spacious shower room with shower and WC.

Venturing outside is the private decked area with seating where you can enjoy the magnificent countryside views across Hadrian’s Walk or take a relaxing dip in the hot tub. This is a perfect area for al fresco dining or perhaps enjoy a nice glass of wine or a good local ale. You may also get the opportunity to spot the regular visitors including deer, red squirrels, barn owls, hare, rabbits, red kite and lots of garden birds. There is ample off-road parking available for the property.

The Lodges

Headswood Farm Luxury Lodges | Located on Hadrians Wall
Headswood Farm has a most enviable position situated directly on Hadrian s Wall and offers four glorious luxury, individually decorated, en-suite micro-lodges that can be booked from as little as a single night. Our newly-built micro lodges are fully kitted-out, insulated and heated pods with en-suite shower rooms and mini kitchens, Freeview TV and free WiFi. Each is designed to sleep two people plus one dog. Headswood Farm, built in the 1700 s, actually straddles part of Hadrian s Wall (between miles 56 and 57), in a rural location, about 12 miles east of Carlisle and is a great place to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

We have a number of fantastic camping pods on site! They're perfect for a spot of glamping. Each pod comes with electrical sockets, lighting, blinds for your privacy, decking to sit and enjoy a fire and a beer, an enclosed garden to allow your dogs to room free. Shared facilities and kitchen lean to with communal fridge, oven and microwave. Bedding can be provided for an additional charge.

Camping at Cardewlees is situated in picturesque landscape and farm setting giving you a taste of the rural life and a peaceful escape from the worries of life. Located just 15 minutes from the city of Carlisle, Camping at Cardewlees is nothing but a stone's throw away from historical landmarks such as Hadrian's Wall and Carlisle Castle. 

Offering 15 pitches for caravans and tents, with amenities such as toilet and shower facilities, fresh water and electric hook up, this small family friendly site is the perfect for all of your camping needs. 

They certainly haven't forgotten about you glampers either, with snug glamping pods to tipis and bell tents, get away to the countryside in style! Fire up those barbeques, get cozy around those firepits and give yourself and your family a well deserved break to remember.  

The campsite is open all year round, with peak seasons starting in line with the school summer holidays. 

Dogs are welcome but please contact us should you wish to bring more than 2 dogs.

Camping at Cardewlees

High Hall Campsite is located on our family farm in the Eden Valley, Cumbria.
We are surrounded by the beautiful North Pennine fells with amazing views across the Valley to the Lake District National Park.
Our pitches are situated between our wildlife pond and the Croglin beck that meanders its way through the farm. Here at High Hall, you can always guarantee a waterside stay. 

​We are delighted to be a certified member of The Greener Camping Club (GCC). The GCC share our passion for the environment and sustainable low impact camping.

Lazonby children's pool is a life saver in the hot: a 17m by 6m pool that is outside to a comfy 26 degrees, it is well suited for both a household splash about or some serious workout: it's your responsibility!
