The Firs

The Firs Caravan and Motohome Club site is a pleasant, compact park on a ridge above the valley of the River Derwent. About half of the 67 pitches are usually available for touring units, the rest being used as seasonal pitches. There are a few level grass pitches (on which the use of groundsheets is discouraged) but most are on hardstandings with grass verges. All have access to 10A electricity. Close by are many market towns offering fantastic restaurants, tea rooms, gift shops and cinemas. A range of supermarkets and petrol stations are also available locally. The park is clearly well cared for. Despite its location, there are not many views from the site itself, though there are, of course, plenty in the Derwent Valley below. The historical mills between Matlock and Derby have led to this becoming a World Heritage Site. The magnificent scenery of the Peak District National Park is just a short drive away: Dove Dale, Matlock Bath and the Heights of Abraham, the Crich Tram Museum, the Tissington Trail, Bakewell and Chatsworth House, all within a 20 mile radius.
