Arundel House

Arundel House is an historic Whitby b&b, built c.1790, an imposing Georgian Manor House, an outstanding period property integrally linked to the charm and charisma of Whitby’s past. Originally, the home of the Campion family, who were important ship builders at the time of Captain Cook’s voyages of discovery, and Margaret Campion, who established herself as the first lady-banker in Britain. Prominently located opposite Pannet Park, this delightful Whitby guest house is conveniently situated within walking distance of the unique town centre, harbour, beach and Abbey. This Whitby B&B offers well appointed en-suite rooms, including four poster and ground floor rooms. All are individually themed and dedicated to some of Whitby’s most famous residents. All our rooms are well appointed with tea/coffee making facilities, en-suite bathrooms, hairdryers, flat screen TVs, and complimentary WiFi. **Standard Double/Twin and Single rooms** have small en-suite bathrooms and are on the first or second floor of the Hotel. **Superior rooms** are larger in size and feature Four Poster beds, larger en-suite bathrooms, and are located on the ground or first floor. We also offer Super King size beds and can guarantee a good night’s sleep, as all of our beds are handmade locally and have 10 inch deep matresses with 10,000 pockets.

  • Pannett Room — Four Poster Room The Pannett room is a well appointed superior en-suite four poster room, on the first floor, with a comfortable sitting area from which to watch the world go by. The large Georgian style window overlooks Pannett Park, after which the room is named, with a glimpse of Whitby Abbey and St Mary’s Church in the background.   • Scoresby — Classic Single Room Named after a family of Whitby’s great sailing pioneers, this comfortable single room is on the 2nd floor and has an excellent view of Whitby Abbey and St Mary’s Church, as well as Bagdale and Pannett Park. There is a 3/4 sized bed and an en-suite modular shower room. The room has a flat screen TV, hair dryer, hospitality tray, and complimentary WiFi. We only offer 2, 3 and 7 day stays.
  • Stoker Room — Classic Double Room StokerBram Stoker, author of the famous 19th century novel Dracula, was famously inspired by his visits to St Mary’s church, which features in his story and can be seen from our Stoker room, along with Whitby Abbey. Named after the Campion family, local sailmakers and merchant bankers who built Arundel House and other Whitby manor houses in the late 1700’s.   • Weatherill Room — Classic Super King or Twin Bedded Room The Weatherill room is a comfortable twin, or King size, bedded room with en-suite shower and separate wash stand. The room is named after one of Whitby’s superlative seascape artists. Looking down Bagdale, the large window offers lovely aspects of Pannett Park, Whitby Abbey, and St Mary’s Church.   • Freeman Room — Family Room - 2 Adults, 1 Child The Freeman Room is a family room which can sleep up to 3 people. It is devoted to the R.N.L.I. and to Henry Freeman, Whitby’s most famous lifeboat hero.
