Welcome to Fullabrook Farm Retreat — a peaceful adults-only hideaway on the edge of a 250-acre working family farm in central North Devon, surrounded by countryside and close to the rugged North Devon coast. Home is The Shepherdess: a handcrafted 20ft shepherd’s hut built from scratch by hosts Zoe and Sam Tucker (with plenty of family help) between the day jobs on the farm where they live with twins Imogen and Harry. You’re slightly off the beaten track, yet minutes from West Down village and within easy reach of every North Devon beach — Woolacombe, Croyde, Saunton, Putsborough, Ilfracombe and more. Private woodland sits nearby; look out for pheasants wandering and deer soaking up the sun in neighbouring fields. Sheep graze close by; the feel is quiet, private and intentionally small — just your hut, not a holiday park. Inside you’ll find a king-size bed with soft linen, dining and living space, Wi‑Fi, TV with Amazon Fire Stick, and central heating throughout for cooler nights. The ensuite bathroom has a spacious hot shower, basin and flushing loo, plus bathrobes, towels and complimentary Out of Eden toiletries (hand soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel). The kitchen is fully equipped with a four-ring hob, oven, under-counter fridge/freezer, toaster, Belfast sink and a full set of utensils — plus complimentary oil, salt, pepper, vinegar, tea, coffee, sugar, hot chocolate and marshmallows. Arrival essentials typically include an oven glove, tea towel, dish cloth, washing-up liquid, toilet rolls and a bin bag; two outdoor blankets are provided for patio evenings. Outside, a private patio has dining furniture, barbecue and a firepit with cooking facilities. Logs, kindling, matches and firelighters are included (extra wood available for a small fee). Expect memorable sunsets and dark-sky stargazing after a day on the coast or Exmoor. West Down (about five minutes’ drive) has a community-run shop for BBQ essentials and a foodie pub if you fancy a change of scenery. Open all year. Adults only (18+) — no children as guests or visitors. No pets of any kind (farm livestock, horses and woodland wildlife nearby). Maximum two adults; parties and events not permitted. No outdoor music or radios — headphones only outside the hut. Minimum 2-night stay. Check-in from 4pm with contactless entry (weekday arrivals welcome); check-out by 10am. Private off-road parking for two cars; the path from the car park is a gravel slope — flat footwear advised. Please leave the hut clean and tidy.
