JILL WINDMILL, Clayton, West Sussex. Jill Windmill, a restored traditional corn windmill built in 1821, located in the South Downs National Park. Open to visitors on most Sunday afternoons from May to September. Over the course of the year, Jill Windmill is surrounded by a succession of flora including snowdrops and daffodils. Jill grinds flour when wind permits. Free car parking and a picnic area on Open Days along with a souvenir and tea shop. Admission is by donation and stoneground wholegrain flour is occasionally on sale to visitors. Most suited to children over 7 years old. Disabled access to grounds and ground floor only. Jack Windmill is in private ownership and it is not open to the general public. The nearest public toilets are located at the Garden Centre, half a mile north on the A273.
