Our Hayfield Club campsite sits at the foot of the Dark Peak area of the Peak District National Park. This is walking country where you can enjoy anything from a gentle stroll to a more challenging climb. If you prefer the former, the village of Hayfield (the backdrop for the BBC’s TV drama The Village) is a 15-minute stream-side stroll from the site. For the latter, a walk up Lantern Pike rewards you with a 360 vista over seven counties. The walk up Kinder from the west side is one of the classic excursions of the Peak District. The walk starts at Bowden Bridge car park and takes around four-and-a-half hours. Catch your breath and relax at Hayfield. This is a peaceful campsite in a secluded location with excellent on site facilities including a family/accessible washroom, drying facilities, children’s play area and a well-stocked site shop. The surrounding area has a variety of attractions. East of the site at Castleton is Peveril Castle. Make the climb to the hilltop where the Norman fortress sits and you’ll be rewarded with fantastic views across the Hope Valley. Castleton is home to a series of caverns including the Blue John Cavern famous for its minerals, fossils, stalagmites and stalactites. The Freshfields Donkey Sanctuary, Quarry Bank Mill and Styal Estate in Wilmslow and Go Ape! at Buxton Country Park are other popular local attractions. Known as "the gateway to Kinder", Hayfield is at the foot of the Kinder Massif, the southern-most point of the Pennine Chain. The Peak District is famous for its walking. From Hayfield, follow the Sett Valley Trail or a take a ridge ramble up Lantern Pike. The Blue John Cavern at Castleton holds eight varieties of Blue John Stone. The shop sells items made from the stone, hand-made by local craftsmen. Buxton is known for its waters and the Buxton Festival in July. Chatsworth House is set in a 1,000 acre park and recently starred in the film Pride and Prejudice. Animal Farm is a rare breeds centre and visitors can try dry-stone walling and panning for Blue John. **Ready Camp Glamping** We have glamping tents on this campsite. Dunge Valley Hidden Gardens feature rhododendrons, azaleas, magnolias, acers and the blue poppy. Lyme Park was originally a Tudor house until the Venetian Architect Leoni turned it into an Italianate palace in the early 18th Century. The Chestnut Centre Conservation Park is home to otters and owls. It has an adventure playground for youngsters. Because of planning restrictions in place to protect the National Park, caravans cannot be accommodated on Site and there are no electric hook-ups.
