Bird watching - Canna is home to a wide range of seabirds and other species. Pick up a Canna Birds checklist at the community shop and go bird spotting! Top finds include puffins, shelducks, buzzards, wrens, eagles and merganser ducks. Archaeology - Canna has at least 1200 documented sites. Main sites are the Celtic Cross, Sgor nam Ban-Naomha (the nunnery), the Viking’s Grave and the Souterrains although there are many more to spot along any walks you take. Eagles - keep your eyes and ears peeled and spot our local White Tailed Sea Eagles and Golden Eagles as they soar over the island and ocean hunting or displaying their flying prowess. Please just be careful not to disturb the eagles during the nesting season. Refuel and Relax at Cafe Canna - our little cafe on the harbour. Open daily for meals, drinks and takeaways with free wifi. Go shopping - Our community shop stocks a range of groceries, books, tea, coffee and has free wifi. Arts, crafts & produce created by local residents. ​Go underground - walk towards Tarbert (make sure you have a map!) and visit our mysterious souterrains and come up with your own theory of what they were used for…. Isle of Canna Farm - all of Canna is a working farm stocking Cheviot sheep, Highland and Beef Cattle,. You will be able to see the animals in the fields close at hand but please be careful not to disturb them at lambing and calving times. Shark!! keep an eye on the ocean and every so often you might just spot a Basking Shark, Dolphin or a Minke or Killer Whale. Otter spotting - there are several otter families based around the island and they can be spotted fishing or returning through the fields to their holts which are often quite far away from the shore. Go walkabout! - Canna has some lovely walks with lots of wildlife and beautiful views.
