Longsleddale, Cumbria – St Mary’s

Kendal, Longsleddale, Cumbria, England

Perched in the middle of this green and pleasant valley and surrounded by towering mountains is the church of St Mary in Longsleddale, a non-CCT church offered by the Churches Trust for Cumbria. If it looks familiar, it’s because Longsleddale was the inspiration for Greendale, the fictional home of Postman Pat and his black and white cat. Although there is no postmistress Mrs Goggins, or local handyman Ted Glen on hand to avert any mail-related disasters for visitors this summer, the well-appointed Community Hall next door means that you can cook your own locally-produced fayre as early as you like in order to get out and enjoy the Cumbrian countryside.
