Designed by acclaimed local architect James Pearson Alison FRIBA and dating from 1888, Balcary House Hotel sits in around 3½ acres of mature private grounds. Originally costing £3,320 9s 1d, Balcary was built as a 17 bedroom mansion for local mill owners the Laing family. In the 1940's it opened as a residential care home, primarily catering for children from bombed cities north & south of the border. In August 2016, we were delighted to host a reunion for former Barnardos residents. Prior to us purchasing the building in 2015, it was a christian conference centre and since aquiring the property, we've been working tirelessly to improve, upgrade and decorate the accommodation to the highest standards, ensuring it meets the needs of hotel guests today. Today the Hotel boasts 9 comfortable rooms/suites accessed from a grand staircase with stunning stained glass window. Accommodation comprises a Honeymoon Suite, Super King bedrooms with super-king zip & link beds, a family suite and easy access suite for less able guests. In addition to sleeping accommodation, the hotel offers numerous reception rooms and a relaxed bar area, perfect for business meetings, family reunions and a range of other functions. For larger weddings, the extensive landscaped grounds provide the ideal location for a marquee catering for up to around 200 guests. Situated in a quiet area on the south side of the town, Balcary House Hotel is less than half a mile from Hawick Town Centre occupying an elevated position with westerly views overlooking the River Teviot and Wilton Lodge Park. Sleep and break fast is provided together with light refreshments during the day. Teas can be scheduled and generally are provided between 2 and 5 pm afternoon. The 3.5 acres are a tranquil setting opposite wilton park and ideal for a rest that is relaxing.

- King Ensuite with shower — Situated on the first floor this super king size room benefits from a double en-suite shower room with wash basin & toilet facilities. Tea & coffee making facilities are provided together with complimentary still and sparking water; complimentary toiletries are provided in the ensuite shower room. Breakfast Inlcuded.
- Double or Twin-Ensuite — With a modern en-suite bathroom, this dual aspect room has super king-size zip and link beds which can be configured as a double or twin. This first floor room overlooks the south facing garden & lawns to the side; to the front of the room the south westerly aspect delivers panoramic views of the town. Max. 2 Adults 1 Child. (Add extra bed on Extra products). Children aged 17 years and above are considered adults at this property. Breakfast Included. Pets Allowed.
- King Ensuite with Balcony — Situated on the first floor, this south facing room has been tatefully decorated and benefits from a small balcony enabling to to enjoy al-fresco drinks whilst watching the sunset. The en-suite bathroom incorporates a bath with shower over and complimentary toiletries are provided. Breakfast Included.
- King Ensuite with 4 Poster Bed — Situated on the first floor at the front of the hotel and incorporating a super king size four-poster bed. The romantic bedroom is complimented by a chaise lounge enabling you to enjoy panoramic views over the town from a large double glazed bay window. A modern en-suite bathroom incorporates a double ended bath, toilet and wash basin; complimentary toiletries are provided and there's always lashings of hot water courtesy of two newly fitted boilers. - King-Private Bathroom( Not Ensuite) — With it's own private bathroom adjacent the room and super-king size bed, this bedroom has been luxuriously decorated and furnished to create a real sense of luxury. A flat screen smart TV is provided, as are tea and coffee making facilities, both still and sparkling bottled water is also provided. Situated on the first floor at the front of the hotel and ideal for families, this room affords commanding views and has an interconnecting door which enables the room to link to a further double/twin room with ensuite facilities if required. - Suite-Wet room Easy Access — Accessed directly from the car park, this ground floor suite is ideal for less mobile guests. A gentle ramp leading from the corridor adjacent the room ensures that all ground floor facilities may be accessed using wheelchairs. The super king-size zip & link bed enables the room to be configured as a double or twin dependent on your exact needs. A small kitchen with fridge, tea/coffee making facilities etc provides through access to a large fully tiled wheelchair accessible wet room fitted with grab rails and fold down toilet support rails. - King Ensuite — Overlooking the south facing lawns and garden at the side of the hotel, this large comfortable room has en-suite bath & toilet facilities. Over the bath, a shower is also provided and high quality complimentary toiletries are provided. Accessed via a grand staircase with half landing and stunning stained glass window this room is situated on the first floor. Breakfast Included.
