For starters, Moors Covert Farm Camping is on the edge of the Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a 26-square-mile playground for walkers, cyclists, horse trekkers and outdoor activity types. The site is also next to the Staffordshire Way, so head for this neck of the woods if you're looking to wander far and wide. This back-to-basics spot likes to keep things simple and straightforward. There's ample space on these well-kept grounds for guests and their gear – just turn up with your pals, kids, bikes or horses (there's stabling for up to two) and let the good times roll. About two miles from base there's also a top-rated pub; head along here to get those good times off to a flying start. The folk that run this place do their best to keep you sweet with their locally produced honey; they also sell free-range eggs and other supplies. Got a taste for home-grown grub? Head to the local farm shop, about a mile away, for more farm-to-fork goodies. There's also a pick-your-own down the road where you can pluck the plumpest-looking pumpkins when they're in season.
