**Nightingale Camping**, set in the lovely **Kent** countryside, has been welcoming campers for over 25 years and it shows; they know what campers want and offer a wonderful back to basics experience in beautiful surroundings. The campsite has all the best bits about **wild camping** - off grid and off road - but offers a few little luxuries to make your holiday easier….a retreat into the wilds, but with portaloos and drinking water if you need them. They’ll also recharge battery packs and freeze ice blocks - all for free. The campsite is well kept and spacious, meaning that you can put up gazebos and smaller tents, spread out and make a really good base for your holiday. The surrounding fields and woods are excellent for letting the dogs have a good run off the lead, and the kids will enjoy following the many woodland trails around the campsite. It is mainly tent campers here, but Nightingale Camping can take a few caravans or motorhomes if you book ahead, and they also have one gorgeous pre-erected **bell tent** for those quick enough to book it; at 5 metres in diameter it can take up to 6 adults. Other pitches are not numbered or marked out, so you can put your tent up where you want. The **beautiful surrounding countryside** is well worth exploring. Just walking distance from the campsite there are good old fashioned activities galore, with the nearby river offering kayaking and stand up paddleboarding among other things. There are lots of local walks around the nearby villages of **Yalding**, **East Peckham** and **Waterbury.** Bewl Water and Bedgebury Pinetum are also lovely locations to walk, picnic or have a bite to eat at one of the local pubs or cafes. Bedgebury is also the home of GoApe, so if you are feeling adventurous you can give a swing on the high wires a whirl too! Cyclists are well catered for too; there are a wide variety of cycling routes directly from Nightingale Camping (of varying difficulty - choose wisely!) which give you a chance to see the beautiful countryside from your bike. For anglers, there are excellent fishing lakes nearby if you want to try and catch something for supper! At Nightingale Camping you are also close to some of Kent’s best attractions if you are looking for a family friendly day trip, including **Leeds Castle**, **Canterbury Cathedral**, **Port Lympne** Wildlife Park, Howletts, Wingham Wildlife and lots of National Trust properties and historic houses. And if you fancy a day at the beach then this is possible too - around an hour away are the beautiful sandy shores of **Joss Bay** and **Camber Sands**, and on the north coast, the ever popular seaside town of Whitstable. Buy some oysters and bring them back to eat at your pitch! Just a short walk away are several very good pubs and tearooms, so if you are not in the mood for whipping up a storm in the BBQ you can let someone else cook for you. At the end of a long day exploring - or just meandering around and about near the campsite - relax at your pitch and enjoy the pretty surroundings as the sun goes down.
