Hillend Livery Camping is a quiet pop-up campsite based on a smallholding and livery stables in rural Ayrshire. The site is in a very private location and is encircled by peaceful woodlands, but it's still within easy reach of local towns and villages.

The Dippol Burn stream meanders through the site, and the gorgeous River Ayr Way walk is roughly two miles north of base. Badgers, hedgehogs, deer, foxes, owls and otters can sometimes be spotted in the local area, so keep your eyes peeled when exploring local woodlands and riverbanks.

The pitches here are spacious and unmarked, so feel free to pick your own location. As the site is part of a working farm, you may also see horses and ponies grazing in nearby fields.

This site is all about getting back to nature and relaxing in a secluded family-friendly space. Although the fields feel very peaceful, they're not entirely off-grid and have access to a shower and toilet. Off-ground firepits and barbecues are permitted.

Hillend Livery Camping is roughly a mile and a half from the village of Auchinleck, where there is a railway station, convenience store, pub, butcher's and café.
