The Little Harford woodland pod is a cosy glamping retreat deep in the woodland, featuring a woodburner and fairy lights for a rustic, comfortable stay. Provided amenities include bedding, crockery, basic cooking pots and utensils, a camping gas ring, a firepit, and a small portable power station. Guests must bring their own provisions.

The off-grid setup ensures no Wi-Fi or phone signal, allowing for a peaceful escape.

The campsite is equipped with compost toilets, an off-grid gas shower, and a washing-up area. This setup offers a unique opportunity to disconnect and enjoy nature.

A winding path leads down to where the land levels out at the water meadow area of the woodland. A family of buzzards live in the valley and you can often hear owls, pheasants and wild birds. There is parking at the entrance to the lower woodland on hard standing. A couple of compost toilets are available for all No.2’s and mindful wild peeing is encouraged. Tapped water is available from an outside tap at the property for drinking water and there is a new gas fired shower as well as washing up area. Campfires are allowed and seasoned wood can be purchased at a small extra cost.



We only offer a very limited number of camping spots at any time to preserve the tranquility for everyone. There is room for a couple of Campervans to park on the hard standing.

The campervan pitch at Little Harford campsite is located at the top of the woodland, on a hardstanding area. Vehicles, including those for tents, park here as the paths to the main campground are too narrow for vehicles, ensuring a peaceful, almost wild camping experience. The campsite is off-grid, with no wifi or phone signal, offering a true escape into nature. Facilities include compost toilets and a newly built off-grid gas-fired shower.

Looking for cosy couples’ getaways under canvas or an adventure packed weekend with friends? Get away from the hustle and bustle and stay in a beautiful bell tent in the Devon countryside. Set up, ready for your arrival, glamping is the perfect way to camp! This peaceful home away from home, with lakeside views and woodland walks makes for splendidly soothing hols.

The sloping meadow, with levelled pitches, offers breath-taking views. A stream meanders down the hillside from a small pond at the top, down to a lake at the bottom of the field, connecting to a river in the valley below. A vast wall of trees, and miles of woodland walks in Haldon forest lies beyond!

This secluded site is something of a wildlife haven. With no site lighting, and minimal (solar) lighting at the pitches, it’s perfect for spotting glow worms and bats at night. Here you’ll have access to uninterrupted vistas of trees, a fishing lake and a small river, and miles of woodland forest trails. (Which connect up to a choice of different pubs within 30 mins walk.) Or go for a wander to say hello to the horses living on the farm. 

There are never more than 10 pitches in the 2.5 acre field (even on a busy summer holiday weekend), so there is plenty of space. Bell tents are spaced a minimum of 10 metres apart from one another, for your privacy.

If you have friends/family that would like to join, message us for availability and we’ll aim to arrange you to stay in pitches close to one another.

The tents can squeeze another single bed in too, if you have a 3rd person (at a small extra fee).

DOGS: Dogs are allowed, but the site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act and/or any of the following: Staffordshire bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, Rottweiler, any Mastiff or Tosa.

PARKING/ACCESS: We have 3 different car parks. For 4×4 owners and braver drivers, there’s parking very close to pitches. For others, access from the main car park involves a 200-metre walk down a steep track, which can be slippery at times. (Wheelbarrows provided for your gear.)

Please note, this site is not suitable for the less able.

The tents are self check in, but good signage and a site map should enable you to find your pitch on your own.

(We provide a contact number for any inquiries and there is someone on-site in case of emergencies.)

Please note there is a lot of water around (stream, pond, small lake and river) and you are responsible for your own safety and for the safety of any children that you bring.

The site is on a working farm and there are lots of horses around.

What is it like staying in a Contemporary Yurt?

The simple answer is just imagine taking all of the best bits of camping and losing all of the not so good bits. A Contemporary Yurt is a bright, spacious circular structure consisting of a wooden frame with a lattice wall, a durable, insulated and waterproof fabric cover and a solid locking door.  Our guests love the viewing dome through which as night falls you can relax looking at the sky.   Although generally classified as a tent, a Contemporary Yurt is far more spacious (even for the tallest person), much stronger and weather tight.

It feels like everyone wants to be outdoors and camping at the moment; whether you’ve done it before or new to the notion of sleeping under the stars, an awesome movement is sweeping the country.  Except...not everyone wants to spend their holiday hammering in tent pegs and playing cats cradle with guy ropes.  Well, this is where Yurtcamp Devon swings heroically into action.  They’ve done all the hard work so you don’t have to.  There is still all the simplicity of a nature based getaway, but your home is a contemporary yurt and you sleep on a proper bed.

Situated on the edge of Dartmoor National Park in south Devon, this excellent, family friendly site is set up like a village, with groups of yurts dotted about well kept fields and shrouded in woodland, separated by winding paths, picnic tables and firepits.  There are 22 yurts in all, some small and suitable for two (with room for a travel cot if there is a third wheel in your party) and some larger, which comfortably sleep 5 or 6.  All yurts have proper beds, a woodburner to keep you warm on chiller nights, a table and chairs and cooking facilities.  A well maintained shower and toilet block is located a short walk from the yurts.  If you want a more remote setting for your stay, book a yurt hidden in the woodland, either with one or two neighbours if you travel in a group, or completely on its own in the wilds, perfect for complete seclusion or even….a romantic proposal.  And talking of proposals, if the answer is a delighted yes, then why not consider going the whole hog and marrying at Yurtcamp?  They are a licensed venue for weddings where you can tie the knot in the thatched pavilion and have a catered reception for up to 140 people.

The yurts are surrounded by 40 acres of beautiful woodland and there is plenty of space to explore and walk along one of the many pretty trails; wildlife lovers can keep a lookout out for birds of prey and deer.  There is a large field on the site which has been left clear for ball games and general gadding about.  Yurtcamp also has table tennis, a playground, a sandpit and a woodland assault course with zipwire, so there is plenty to keep everyone very well entertained.  The excellent Woodland Cafe onsite serves meals, Devon cream teas and drinks.  

There is no real reason to leave this lovely set up, but should you decide to venture into the outside world, you’ll be well rewarded.  The Devon coast is only 8 miles down the road and the ancient woodland of Dartmoor National Park is right on the doorstep for hiking, biking and rambling in the wilds.  It is well worth a visit to Becky Falls here, a 70 foot waterfall, which offers a great family day out with walking trails, boulder scrambling and even animal encounters.  For daredevils, the River Dart Country Park is a ten minute drive away and is a chance to have a go at kayaking, high ropes, climbing and loads of other brilliant activities.

If you do take a day trip, make sure you get back to camp in time for some nighttime star gazing.  Each yurt has a viewing dome at the centre, so you can light the woodburner, kick back and watch out for shooting stars across the dark Devon sky.

Traditional Camping in ‘Sunset View’ is set in a secure 1/2 an acre field which will cater for 5 vans/motorhomes/caravans along with 5 tents.
We do not have designated pitches in this area.  We operate as ‘You choose where you want to pitch’, which also caters for parking next to your pitch.
With large spacious pitches, you will never feel like you are camped so close to your neighbours that you can hear them snoring!!
The field overlooks Hatherleigh Moor and if it’s a clear night you will see the most stunning sunsets from here!
We feel that when you want to go camping, sitting around a fire-pit is a must, so feel free to bring along your raised fire-pit.  If you do not own one, do not panic….. you can hire one from the farmhouse for a small fee plus a refundable deposit once you have returned it. It’s as easy as that!!  There’s no need to pick your bag of wood up from the local garage, we sell bags of wood that we prepare onsite; for sale here, which are cheaper, and you might even be lucky enough to watch how we do it. Please note;
Collecting ‘dead wood’ for your fire is NOT PERMITTED. This goes against or policy to protect wildlife. There are ground nesting birds that may get disturbed and we also ask you to keep to the paths already created so it doesn’t disturb other wildlife’s habitats.

Nestled in ‘Willow Wood’ with fabulous Solar Lighting and a USB charging point for Mobile Phones only, a very comfortable King-size bed which can also be separated to suit a couple of friends wanting a relaxing weekend away. It’s perfect for a very chilled getaway.
Each ‘Posh Bed in a Shed’ comes with your own personal fire-pit.  So, as the evening starts to draw closer you can light the fire-pit, toast your marshmallows and be mesmerized by the gentle flickering of the fire flames.  What more could you ask for?
Comes fully equipped with bedding and cooking utensils, Tea, Coffee and Sugar for that all important morning cuppa, 1 free bag of wood for every night of your stay, so all that’s needed is for you to pack your suitcases, fill your hampers with your favourite camping foods, and let us take care of the rest. Our lovely Wild Camping area is set in ‘Mystery Woods’ where you can relax in the peaceful surroundings of the magical whispering trees.
Here you can chill-out around your campfire until its tranquil flames have truly relaxed you.
Although we have accommodated the big 8 man tents at times, wild camping is more designed for tents that are on the smaller scale and minimalistic camping.  So please bear this in mind when deciding which pitch to book. Please note:
There is no access to the woods with vehicles.  You will be parking your car a short distance away from your tent, and transferring your camping equipment to your pitch via a wheelbarrow we provide, or, as a real wild camper would, on your back.  With ‘Wild Camping’ this is just one of the many experiences to enjoy!
Collecting ‘dead wood’ for your fire is NOT PERMITTED. This goes against our policy to protect wildlife. There are ground nesting birds that may get disturbed and we also ask you to keep to the paths already created so it doesn’t disturb other wildlife’s habitats.
The wild camping area is a ‘Dog Free Zone’. If you wish to come camping with your fur babies, please book your pitch in the traditional camping area.

‘MYSTERY WOOD

Here at Westdown Farm we are set in 92 beautiful acres of unspoiled, working farmland in the idyllic countryside of West Devon, just a short distance from Dartmoor.

This is an ideal place for the photographers and wildlife enthusiasts among you as we have over 30 species of butterfly recorded and our fields are rich in wild flowers and grasses.
Westdown Farm is also home to our pedigree herd of British Longhorn Cattle who manage the land by grazing and helping maintain the diversity of the flora which help the butterfly to thrive.

We are an off grid, ECO friendly camping ground, so we do not have electric hook-up. But, we do however charge up your batteries if they need charging!! (this is a free service).
We can cater for traditional campers and caravanners in our CL Campsite where you can enjoy waking up to a stunning view every morning. Alternatively you can enjoy Wild Camping where you can get back to nature in our unspoiled areas.
Also we can cater for rallies/gatherings with your own separate area for privacy.
We are a dog friendly site but all dogs must be kept on leads to ensure the safety of other campers and of course the livestock that live on the farm. (Unfortunately we ensure a no dogs policy with Wild Camping).

Dogs  are  welcome  but  obviously  be   kept  under  control  as  we are  a working farm.

There is   a  shower  and  flushing  toilet on  site  as  well as  washing  machine   and   dryer.   Shower   and  laundry  operate   on  a   coin  box   system.

Our  farm  shop   can  supply  campers  with  fresh  lamb,  beef  chicken and  pork  and  also our  own  brand  of  tea personally  selected  from  our  time  in Sri  Lanka. Fresh home  made  bread   may   be  available  on  baking  days  the  micro  bakery   is  being  kitted  out  and  the  baker(me) doing a  crash   course  in  stone baked  bread   Farm  walks  can  be  arranged  on  request  and   depending  on  which  fields  are being   grazed   by  stock.

Little Gosford farm is a small family run farm of 43 acres of natural pasture land located in East Devon in the beautiful South West of England.

We maintain a closed flock of Wiltshire horn sheep numbering an average of 100 ewes and lambs, furthermore a small flock of some 50 laying hens which are completely free range. At the time of writing we are bringing on 20 Black Angus beef cattle. We also raise, as the season dictates, pigs and meat birds. We have established a certificated location caravan and motorhome park under the auspices of the Caravan Club. For additional income we renovated what was originally designed as a lambing shed into a successful holiday let.

The farm has its own water supply and we are self supporting in our electricity needs thanks to three solar generators that were installed in 2012.

The campus is made around a country property, and is also a Botanical that is registered Garden. You can find 36 sculptures to uncover, some inside, and some in the open.The complete walk takes about 2 hours, or you prefer a shorter walk, a wander round the outdoor sculptures alone will require an hour or so around. The sculptures on display make up a great and diverse collection, by distinguished artists such as for instance Barbara Hepworth, Geoffrey Clark, Peter Randall Page, Paul Mount, together with other artists that are appearing. Its open day-to-day and free to visit, making for a time that is interesting with all the young ones that'll not hurt you wallet!Discover the changes which have happened in the medium of visual activity over the last 200 years and exactly how far they have come considering that the very early experiments with shadows, mirrors and puppets!
