Braemar Castle

Braemar, Aberdeenshire, Scotland

Braemar Castle is a 17th century Castle with a colourful history. Built by the powerful Earl of Mar, it was attacked during the Jacobites uprisings and occupied by Government soldiers before becoming a comfortable family home to the Chiefs of Clan Farquharson. Now operated and looked after by the local community, it has many stories to tell and a warm welcome is guaranteed. Guided tours are available for the 2021 season but the Castle will close for restoration work across 2022.
