Hankering after an easy rural escape? Have it at Avocet Glamping, on an acre of land just outside the village of Adlingfleet and 20 minutes’ drive from Goole, near the boundary of East Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire. Setting up for a stay here is a cinch, as the luxury bell tent is already kitted out with just about everything you need for your break, including comfy beds, lighting and a woodburning stove to stave off any chills (with a couple of wheelbarrows’ worth of wood chucked in to keep it well fed). Crockery and cutlery are provided to aid your feasts cooked up on the gas hobs – set them up out in the sunshine on fine days or under the lean-to tarpaulin if you need a little shelter. A couple of minutes’ stroll takes you over to the amenities building (newly added in 2017), which houses a good-sized wetroom with sink, toilet and hot shower along with a washing-up area. You’ll be sharing this smallholding site with a collection of residents: friendly goats (perennially popular with visiting small sorts) and free-range hens that kindly provide the eggs for breakfast. It’s also something of a wildlife haven, where you may spot deer at the bottom of the garden and flocks of migrating birds overhead. Stunning sunsets and starry skies are regular features, and as the surrounds are so flat it’s often possible to look across the fields to see a ship passing on the waters nearby while you're stoking up your barbie of an evening.
