Keswick, Allerdale, England
Situated on the shores of Derwentwater, our Keswick Club Site is the perfect base from which to explore the Lake District. Boasting a prime location among the north Lakes, this campsite offers stunning views over the shimmering lake and the surrounding fells. With a washing up area, laundry and new backpacker room, Keswick is an organised campsite particularly useful for those arriving by foot or bike. Keswick town centre is within walking distance of the campsite and offers a plethora of provisions, outdoor gear, recreational grounds, eating and drinking. Whether you’re a stroller, rambler, high-level walker or cyclist, take your pick from numerous lake and hillside trails accessible from Keswick Club Site. One of the most famous mountains in the Lake District, Skiddaw, is easily reached from the campsite. Stretching for over 3 miles, Derwentwater is the ideal lake to try your hand at kayaking and canoeing. For a small fee, you can launch directly from the campsite’s shoreline. If you’re a keen fisher, hire a boat from one of the nearby marinas and cast your rod in the hope of catching pike, bream and trout. For an alternative way to explore Derwentwater, board one of the motor launches dotted around the lake. At the southern end of the lake lies the beautiful valley of Borrowdale, where you’ll find the Neolithic Castlerigg Stone Circle and the picturesque packhorse bridge at Ashness.
