Pickering, Ryedale, England
Would you like to pitch up among Pickering peace? Farm the folks (and dog) out to Haugh Rigg Farm four miles from town, set in a peaceful and quiet spot at the end of a small track with no passing traffic – you'll probably already know that splendid North Yorkshire scenery is all around too. Haugh Rigg is a non-working farm that sees peeps escape to it for a peaceful retreat, as it has walking and biking routes very much nearby – again, probably no need to point out the splendid North Yorkshire scenery… It's only a few minutes' drive to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and to yet more hikes and bikes in Dalby Forest. Amenities include a toilet and shower block, a washing machine, and slides and swings for the kids; a small charge applies for using the showers and the washing machine. Starter packs with wood offcuts, small logs, kindling and firelighters for firepits and barbecues are available to buy on arrival. Please be aware that there are no bins on site, so you'll be asked to take all rubbish away with you. And finally, as this is a peaceful and hidden-away site, do look at online maps to be sure of where you're going: it's a quiet spot and doesn't shout out its location.
