New Harborough Cottage is an utterly wonderful old farmhouse that provides a superb holiday retreat. Within its thick stone walls and under its traditional beamed ceilings you will find a magnificent lounge, separate dining room, superb chef’s kitchen, five bedrooms with wonderfully comfortable beds, four bathrooms and even two log burning stoves. Add crisp white bed linen, fluffy towels, cashmere throws, original works of art, and lovely antiques and realise this is a very special place to host a family escape. It is set in its own secret valley with fields all around but the High Peak Trail for walkers and cyclists is close by. Carsington Water with its wild water sports, cycle trails and birdwatching is just over the hill. The lovely historic town of Wirksworth with heritage railway, heritage trail, Northern Lights little cinema and many a pub and restaurant is just five minutes' drive away. There are also lots of other Peak District attractions in the surrounding hills. Matlock Bath with its cable cars and riverside prom is not to be missed. Magnificent Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are just up the Derwent Valley. Venture beyond famous Bakewell and you are in the real Peaks with sparkling rivers, picturesque villages, incredible views from the gritstone edges and country pubs galore.
