# Minehead Camping And Caravanning Club Site Our Minehead Club campsite lies just outside the stunning Exmoor National Park, close to the beaches of the Exmoor Heritage Coast and a mile-and-a-half from the Minehead, Somerset’s largest seaside resort. Not only does this campsite enjoy a prime coastal location in a peaceful setting, its views over-looking the Bristol channel, woodland and the town are second to none. A spacious site, Minehead has 60 pitches including some serviced pitches and good central site facilities. There are lovely walks from the site including a lovely wooded walk into Minehead centre. Minehead is also the starting point for the South West Coast Path, a long-distance trail that follows the coast to Poole. The town is also the terminus of the West Somerset Steam Railway, which travels through 20 miles of stunning coastal and countryside scenery. South of the campsite, Wimbleball Reservoir offers sailing, canoeing and wind surfing – launch your own craft or hire from the lake’s activity centre. Anglers have been known to catch rainbow trout here. You can fish from the banks or hire a boat. There is nine-mile walking and cycling track around the lake too. To find out more about Exmoor National Park, there’s a visitor centre at Dunster. The medieval town is also home to a castle and a working water mill. The lovely location unfortunately makes it unsuitable for caravans. Minehead town is a mile and a half down the hill. It is Somerset's largest seaside resort, with a long sandy beach. Its May Day celebrations include the intriguing, traditional Hobby Horse. The West Somerset Steam Railway station is in the town. The line goes through 20 miles of stunning coastal and countryside scenery. Dunster is a pretty medieval town. The Castle dates back to 1086 and is now managed by the National Trust. Exmoor National Park has a Visitor Centre at Dunster. It is an ideal place to start exploring the moor on foot. Tropiquaria Animal and Adventure Park includes The Radio Museum and Shadowstring Puppet Theatre. Porlock Weir is accessible along the coast path. It has a harbour beneath wooded cliffs. Culbone - the country's smallest church - is here. Porlock village is famous for its steep hill. In the past, horses would pull cars up it.
