Pencraig is a quiet, south-facing, large, lawned area site. The CL is part sloping with extensive views and is part of Nicola and John's 12 acre home. The CL field is accessed by an electric gate and John takes great pride in keeping the field regularly mown. Members are requested to use breathable groundsheets only. The nearest town of Llanfair Caereinion is 2.5 miles away with pubs/wine bar/PO/chip shop/village stores etc. The town is home to the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway. The market town of Welshpool is also home to the National Trust's Powis Castle and Gardens. Nearby you will find the vast Coed-y-Dinas countrystore and Garden Centre, Welshpool Museum, many shops and eating places. We are about 15 minutes car drive from the beautiful Dyfnant Forest with its thousands of miles of colour-coded cycling and walking tracks - also within driving distance is the RSPB Lake Vyrnwy (featured on 'Springwatch') with its 19km perimeter road, level and quiet for cycling. During the summer months there is usually a village show most weekends with local crafts on display along with quality livestock and a main-ring display - why not enter your dog into one of the many dog show classes? Great fun. Walkers will enjoy the Anne Griffiths Walk, Glyndwr's Way and the famous Kerry Ridgeway, amongst many. Local Rambler groups meet weekly on Wednesdays and Sunday. The world renowned Gregynog Hall past home of the Davies sisters whose collection of Artefacts from their many travels abroad are on display - you can literally stand a breath away from one of the great Masters' paintings- with its library, press and beautiful gardens Gregynog is no more than a 15 minute car drive away. There is always a full and splendid Musical Festival organised each year with visiting multi-national musicians gracing the house and gardens. The City of Chester, famous for its history and exclusive shopping 'Rows' is just over an hour's car drive away, Shrewsbury is approximately 45 minutes, both have 'Park & Ride facilities. Trains from Welshpool regularly (free parking). Amenities available locally: coarse fishing, bike hire, sailing on Vyrnwy, 4x4 offroad Centre, Red Ridge Outdoor pursuits centre, Pony Trekking, RHS Open Gardens calendar ... the list is endless. For the more adventurous there are pre-bookable helicopter flights available from Welshpool airport! Please ask if there is something specific you would like to do, we will attempt to help you! Or ... you could just stay on site and relax all day, why not. (There are croquet/boules sets if you want a leg-stretch!). We also have a collection of paperbacks available on a 'swap-system'. Well behaved dogs on leads are most welcome, there is a designated 'Dog Walk' area for them, do be aware that this is Welsh sheep farming country and we are surrounded by flocks from neighbouring farmers.
