Milas-Bodrum airport (more commonly known simply as Bodrum Airport) is situated on a peninsula which juts out from the southwest coast of Turkey into the Aegean Sea. The Greek island of Kos is a few kilometres away, across a narrow strait. Once the home of Herodotus, Bodrum is known today as a beautiful and popular resort area. The airport is situated 36kms northeast of the town of Bodrum, and 16kms south of Milas. A spacious new international terminal was completed in 2000. The old terminal, now reserved for domestic flights, is 1km away, a 15-minute walk across a grassy field. The terminals host about 2.5 million travellers per year, and are especially busy during the peak summer tourism months when charter flights arrive frequently from major cities in Europe.

Milas is a city in southwestern Turkey. It is part of Mugla Province and depends on the province seat of Mugla administratively. It was the ancient capital of Caria and of the Anatolian Turkish Beylik of Mentese. The territory of Milas district boasts of 27 different archaeological sites, a record among local entities in Turkey, and probably anywhere.
Bodrum is a Turkish port in Mugla Province. It is on the Bodrum Peninsula, near the northwest entrance to the Gulf of Gökova, and faces the Greek island of Kos. Today, it is a center of tourism and yachting. It is the ancient Halicarnassus of Caria, renowned for the mausoleum of Maussollos.
The town is very popular tourist resort for northern Europeans due to its attractive coastline and active night-life (Bodrum has been humorously referred to as the "Bedroom of Europe"). It can safely be said that every year at least a few hundreds of thousands of tourists visit Bodrum. The current population is 32,227 (2000 census). In the town there is also a football team called Bodrumspor founded in 1931.

The town of Dalaman (pop. 20,000) on Turkey's Mediterranean coast between Marmaris and Fethiye (map), exists for farming and for Dalaman International Airport (DLM).

The airport, 5.5 km (3 miles) south of the town center, receives domestic flights from Istanbul daily, and nonstop flights from Europe (charter and scheduled) several times weekly.

It's now got a shiny new International Terminal to make travelers' passage through Dalaman a lot nicer:

But be warned: prices for food and drink are quite high: YTL8 for a small tea, YTL10 for coffee, YTL14 for an Efes beer. Yikes! You may want to bring your own provisions.

To fly to Dalaman from a Turkish city other than Istanbul, you will probably have to connect through Istanbul.

From the airport's Domestic Terminal, Havas airport buses run in conjunction with all Turkish Airlines, Onur Air, Fly Air and Atlasjet flights to and from Marmaris and Fethiye, which means there are about four daily buses to and from the airport from each town. (Coming from the International Terminal, turn left and walk 200 meters to the Domestic Terminal to catch the Havas bus.)

Buses leave Marmaris's Turkish Airlines office about 2.5 hours before each flight time, and return from Dalaman Airport after the arrival of each flight. The schedule is similar from Fethiye. More...

You can also take a Dalaman Airport Taxi to Dalaman's Otogar (bus terminal), and from there an intercity bus. This only works if you arrive at Dalaman airport in the morning or early afternoon, though.

Otherwise, private services transfer passengers to Dalyan, Fethiye, Kalkan, Kas, Köycegiz, Marmaris, Mugla and other western Mediterranean resorts and towns. Transfer services may cost US$60 to US$150, plus 15% tax, per car (one or two persons) depending upon your destination.

There is no train service anywhere near Dalaman (map). The nearest railway station is at Denizli (near Pamukkale).

Take the cost of ground transportation into account if you plan to fly into or out of Dalaman and pre-book your airport transfers.

Visit http://www.transfer4cheap.com or call 0208 1447644 ( Uk ) for the reasonable priced but reliable airport transfers starting from as low as £8.99 per person.

Antalya International Airport is big and modern, built to accommodate the millions of passengers who come to Turkey's Mediterranean beaches in high summer.

The airport has two international terminals and one domestic terminal. Airline companies use Terminal I or Terminal II, and they'll tell you which they use so you can find your way back to it when it's time to fly home.

The international terminals have currency exchange offices (döviz bürosu), but the rates of exchange are usually quite terrible.
Your Antalya hotel's rate of exchange may be a bit better, but the best rates are in the banks and currency exchange offices at the city center just north of Kalekapisi at the beginning of Kâzim Özalp (Sarampol) Caddesi.

Or, just use your bank card and an ATM at the airport or in the city to get New Turkish Liras.

Kas
Kas was originally called Habesos or Habesa in the ancient tongue of Lycia and later was given the name Antiphellos. Kas was founded on the ancient town of Antiphellos and the Lycian style sarcophagus at the beginning of the avenue running down to the port is almost the symbol of this lovely town near Antalya in the Mediterranean region south of Turkey.

Antiphellos, which once was a member of the Lycian League, is known to have gained reputation and importance as a port town during the Hellenistic period, sustaining its significance as one of the leading towns during the Roman period as well.

Today's Kas is a coastal town of the Lycians. "Phellos" is the Greek word for "stony place" and this name is very well suited to Kas. Its well preserved rock tombs and theater are well worth seeing.

Kas today is a small and charming coastal resort where many sailing boats anchor in its small marina.

Kalkan
Kalkan is a lovely small hilltop town that overlooks a tiny bay. Its quaint, traditional, white-washed houses, shuttered windows and balconies garlanded with brilliant flowers that cascade to the streets below, make it the ultimate in a peaceful holiday town in the Mediterranean region of Turkey. Narrow winding streets lined with souvenir shops lead down to the charming marina.

Every morning boats busily take tourists to one of the nearby beaches or small bays. As the sun sets it is Kalkan style to meet on the roof terraces for a drink before dinner and enjoy the comings and goings of the yachts, the business of the marina and the panoramic view.

Kalkan is situated on a beautiful small bay near Antalya province. Nearest airport is Dalaman (2 hours by taxi). You can enjoy a daily island excursion in a gullet (wooden hulled local boats), a moonlight dinner cruise, or go by minivan to the nearby villages of Patara and Bergin. Patara beach is a 20 km long, unspoiled white sand beach 12 km from Kalkan. There is another beautiful small sandy beach (Kaputas beach) 5 km from Kalkan. Unfortunately there are no sandy beaches in Kalkan.

Like all others in the area, Turunç has been a continuous settlement from Hellen to Byzantine times.
Long after the Byzantine times we are said that the first sattlers were the people known as yoruks, who came down from the Toros Mountains to the village of Osmaniye. Unavoidable sources of life for the nomed are flocks, agriculture, thyme, bay leaf, garden sage and carob.
A great contagion taught the old settlers to know the sea. While a great percentage of the population moved down the shore, the rest settled in the area where now named Dereozu Mahallesi. Sea life rapidly changed the habits of the people of Turunç.
The alternatives that the sea has offered increased the diversity of the resources, and fishing became way of living. However, Turunç is a holiday centre facilities ranging from pensions to luxury hotels and shopping centres. Its climate enables you to swim 7 months a year (April-October). You cabjoin tours like trekking, jogging, scuba. Of course if you like you can do these activities through out the year, because the coldest day is Turunç is not less than 15 - 20 C. Still in the hottest days (between June and September) cool breezes coming from behind the hills in the west allows you to keep cool. The nearness of Turunç to the neighboring centres provides you with easy transportation It is 120 km
to Dalaman Airport, and 285 km. to Izmir Airport. It is easy to reach the nearby resorts of Marmaris and Icmeler. Those who prefer an easy and calm cruise use the cooperative boats, whereas the cooperative boat coaches serve those who like to travel on the road.
The rapidly increasing tourism has drawn a right and conscious path with the contributions of the people living in Turunc. It is the common principle of the local enterprises to serve the visitors. (no matter if they come overnight or stay longer) at their best. Again with the contributions of its people, Turunç has received the European Blue Flag Award, which is a symbol of true development, because, despite the rapid improvement, the nature of Turunc has remained unpolluted.
