Christchurch in Dorset has it all - countryside, beaches, a harbour and history. It is sandwiched between the glorious New Forest Park on one side and bustling Bournemouth on the other, making it a great location for exploring Dorset.
The town itself has a lively high street with plenty of independent shops and cafes but retains an olde world charm with the historic Priory Church, castle ruins and cobbled streets. If you want a challenge, take a Tower Tour in the Priory and climb the 176 steps to the top- you will be rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view of the town and harbour.
At the entrance to Christchurch harbour is Mude Quay, which has lots of places to eat and drink and is a great place to discover all sorts of activities if you need something to do. Take the kids crabbing - the local shops sell nets, buckets and bait - hire a sailing boat, or for the wild ones - try a thrilling rib ride. There is also a play area for the younger ones.
Christchurch is a great choice for a family staycation.
