Corfe Castle ruins, located in the stunning Dorset village of the same name, are one of Englands most iconic legacies of the English Civil war, having been partly demolished in 1646. Adults and children will be fascinated by the ruined walls and secret places of this royal palace and fortress. Through the year there are many exciting things to do for all the family; falconry displays, Easter treasure hunts or joining a medieval village and taking part in Knight School. There is a National trust shop, a tea rooms with a garden and a visitor centre.
The village itself is picture postcard pretty and offers a range of unique shops, pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and various accommodation. It has a very pretty station and you can catch the vintage steam train to Swanage for a trip out.
If you are staying here with older kids who want to do something adventurous, check out the nearby Dorset Adventure Park, complete with muddy assault course and an inflatable water assault course. A great family day out for something a bit different!
