Weymouth is situated in the middle of the Jurassic Coast, a world Heritage site with over 180 million years of history; dinosaur enthusiasts can head down to the beautiful Chesil beach and have a hunt for fossils.
The blue flag beach boasts a long stretch of sand and safe, paddle-able waters. It is English seaside fun at its very best, with fish and chips, donkey rides, deck chairs and Punch & Judy shows. For the more active, hire a canoe or sailboat (this was the backdrop for the sailing in the 2020 Olympics after all) or bikes to cycle one of the many trails.
The small size of the town means that you can walk around easily - from the beach to the harbour in a few minutes. The historic harbour is a great place to spend time watching the different boats coming and going; luxury Sunseeker yachts, tall ships, fishing boats bringing in their catch and RNLI lifeboats. There are plenty of tea shops, bistros and bars to get a ringside view of all the action and it is a great way to spend a summers evening.
Weymouth is the perfect place for a family staycation!
