Glentrool Camping and Caravan Site, on the edge of Britain’s largest forest park, is the perfect base from which to explore more than 300 square miles of stunning wilderness. The site itself is a small tranquil haven we’ve nicknamed ‘Expedition Base Camp’ because of its proximity to the coast-to-coast Southern Upland Way, the foot of Merrick – the highest peak in the Galloway Hills at 2,766 ft - two of the world-renowned 7Stanes Mountain Biking Trails, RSPB Wood of Cree Reserve and so much more. As one of the best areas on the planet for stargazing, the Galloway Forest Park is also the UK’s first official Dark Skies Park. With hundreds of square miles of stunning landscape, surrounded by a huge variety of wildlife, Glentrool Camping and Caravan Site is the ideal place to pitch your tent or park up your caravan and escape from the stresses and strains of modern living for a truly relaxing and memorable break away from it all.
Accommodation types
- Luxury Static Caravan — Each of our static caravans is 12-foot wide with two bedrooms (one double and one twin). They are equipped with WC, wash-hand basin, shower, full size cooker, fire, HD TV, refrigerator, microwave oven and a full range of crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. We provide bed linen, Complementary tea, coffee, milk, sugar and luxury Shampoo/Conditioner & Shower Gel (Only in luxury static) but please bring your own towels and tea towels.
- Medium Tent Pitch — Glentrool Camping and Caravan Site's touring area has level hard-standing pitches for caravans and motor homes and an informal grassed area for tents. Please be aware that vehicles cannot be taken onto the grass. Showers and hot water are free of charge. This is a dog friendly site, but please be considerate and keep your dog on a lead whilst on site and clear up your dog's mess (we provide doggy poo bags free of charge).
- Touring Hardstanding Pitch — Glentrool Camping and Caravan Site's touring area has level hard-standing pitches for caravans and motor homes and an informal grassed area for tents. Please be aware that vehicles cannot be taken onto the grass. Showers and hot water are free of charge. This is a dog friendly site, but please be considerate and keep your dog on a lead whilst on site and clear up your dog's mess (we provide doggy poo bags free of charge).
