Our 3 family & dog-friendly holiday cottages are set within the beautiful and peaceful Kirkennan Estate bordered by the tidal Urr Water, close to the Solway Coast; an ideal base for exploring the whole of Dumfries and Galloway in South West Scotland. The cottages provide comfortable accommodation within 35 acres of formal lawns, woodland and walled garden which guests are invited to enjoy - ideal for early morning wanders. Red squirrels, roe deer, a range of birds, bats, badgers and, if you are lucky, otters can all be been seen on the Estate. Choose from wheelchair accessible Woodsedge Cottage (sleeps 5), The Lodge (sleeps 5 + 2) and The Mews (sleeps 4 + 1). Each cottage is well equipped for self-catering and has its garden area - those for The Lodge and Woodsedge are enclosed; paved private roads extend through the formal gardens of the Estate that are suitable and accessible for wheelchairs, pushchairs, young bike riders and mobility scooters (one is available for the use of guests). The cottages are dog friendly and we welcome up to 3 well-behaved dogs at no extra charge (they can be let off the lead in our 14 acre Jock’s Wood). Guests at all cottages have access to our EV Charging point. Kirkennan is less than a mile from the friendly village of Palnackie with a dog-friendly pub that serves food, a community-run shop and a harbour. A short drive will take you to the 'food town' of Castle Douglas with a range of independent shops, or Dalbeattie is known for its outdoor activities including 7-Stanes mountain biking. The wonderful Solway Coast with sandy beaches and dramatic coastal walks are minutes away and woodland walks are available from the doorstep.

Kirkennan Mews — The Mews is the smallest of our 3-holiday cottages at Kirkennan and sleeps 4 + 1 in 2 bedrooms. It is part of the former stable block and at one time formed the Office for Kirkennan Estate. It provides a cosy cottage for your holiday that looks out over Kirkennan's landscaped gardens where red squirrels can sometimes be seen and are conveniently located just outside Dalbeattie in the heart of Dumfries and Galloway, South West Scotland near the Solway Coast. On the ground floor, The Mews has a living room, a dining room, a kitchen, and a shower room with a toilet. On the first floor, there is 1 double bedroom with a King-sized bed (5 ft wide) and 1 twin bedroom that has plenty of room for a third fold-out bed on request. There is also a bathroom with a toilet (shower over bath). There is an outside area in front of the holiday cottage with furniture (not enclosed). Parking (2 cars). Cycle store by arrangement. EV charging by arrangement. Up to 3 dogs are welcome free of charge. The holiday cottage has a multi-fuel stove in the living room (initial fuel included). Central heating and hot water run from a district heating biomass boiler system and the cost is included. Electricity, bed linen and towels are also included. Freeview TV. DVD. Radio with i-pod dock. Kirkennan Lodge — Described by one of our guests as Hansel and Gretel's fairytale cottage, the Lodge is located near the southern entrance to Kirkennan Estate and was formerly the Gate Lodge for the Estate. This detached cottage is only 7 miles from the charming market town of Castle Douglas and is ideal for families providing comfortable self-catering accommodation for up to 7 guests set within a large enclosed garden. On the ground floor, the self-catering accommodation comprises a living room, dining room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms (1 king-sized double, 1 twin) and a bathroom with bath, shower cubicle and toilet. On the first floor, there is 1 single bedroom leading to a further single attic bedroom with an additional full-sized pull-out single bed on request. There is one step up to both front and back doors. If you want to bring dogs to Kirkennan please read our dog policy before booking. Woodsedge Cottage — "The cottage is very cosy and comfortable. The grounds are amazing..." Woodsedge, one of 3 self-catering holiday cottages on Kirkennan Estate, provides comfortable, accessible, dog-friendly self-catering accommodation for 5 in what was once Kirkennan's stable block. The cottage looks out over grass, fields and trees at the front and it has its own sheltered and enclosed rear garden with a lawn and patio (outside furniture provided). The cottage is ideally located to visit the numerous attractions of Dumfries and Galloway. Up to 3 well-behaved dogs are welcome free of charge. Woodsedge self-catering holiday cottage has a living room/diner with wood burning stove (initial fuel included) and a well-provided kitchen. It is all on one level and has an accessible shower/wet room, an adjustable height Adjustamatic bed and an electric riser-recliner armchair. We have had several guests who use standard size manual wheelchairs, but please make your judgements about its suitability for your own needs; see more information on how we have tried to make Woodsedge as accessible as possible and a full accessibility statement or feel free to contact us.
