With staycations on the rise many people are looking for new experiences when holidaying in the UK. Holidaymakers are not only looking for brilliant campsites (like yours) to stay at, they are also seeking out unique experiences, and fun activities to add to their holiday itinerary.

The UK is full of fantastic regional produce that we can be proud of. Food travel is extremely popular and there are many easy ways you can incorporate this into your campsite.

Regional Produce Tasting

Every region in the UK has a lot to offer in terms of produce. Whether it is a special type of cheese, local cake or organic cider there will be something close to home that you can share with your campers. Hampers are a great way to upsell but how about turning this into a bookable activity.  Offer a simple 'tasting' where you can talk through the produce in the hamper, providing campers with more information about the region or locality. This could be a great way to link up with any local farmers or producers too.

Cooking Classes

Go one step further and host a cooking class where campers can produce their own regional dish. Or how about a campfire cooking class where campers create some fun dishes using only flames?

Vegan Escapes

Veganism has grown hugely over the past few years and many are seeking alternatives while on holiday. BBQ's and picnics are popular camping activities but it isn’t always easy to find vegan alternatives when you are on holiday. Think about offering a vegan hamper or bbq pack as an add-on extra. Make this an activity by offering a vegan campfire cooking class or a foraging session nearby.

SPORT ACTIVITIES

While some people simply want to relax on holiday, many would rather be active, and try out new sports or experiences. Adding a sporting activity to your campsite will entice a whole new set of campers to stay and play with you.

Watersports

Whether it's surfing, Standup Paddle Boarding or kayaking, watersports are a huge draw for UK holidaymakers with many booking their holiday around them. Do you have connections with any outdoor instructors who could host some SUP or kayaking tours near you? Perhaps you can offer wild swimming experiences in a river, lake or sea close-by?

This super fun activity involves giant inflatable balls which you get inside (like a huge hamster wheel). If you have a large outdoor space or field, think about investing in a few of these for your campsite. This would be fantastic for families.

Bicycle Rental

If your campsite is situated in an area with great cycle paths or MTB trails consider renting bikes to your campers. Bike rental is especially useful for those who travel by motorhome as it means they don't have to worry about moving their vehicle to get around. Bike hire allows people to explore the local area easily.

Archery

Taking up little space, this fun, competitive sport would make a great addition to your campsite. Loved by kids, and adults alike.

Health and Wellness Activities

Yoga and Meditation

Yoga has taken off massively over the last few years and has become one of the most sought after activities by holidaymakers. Do you have a quiet space where you could provide yoga sessions? If so, look for a local instructor who can provide daily or weekly sessions for your campers, and include this as an add-on.

Wellness Retreat

With so many seeking a retreat after a few years living in a  pandemic, now is a great time to create an oasis on your campsite. Why not build a wellness retreat program by offering a number of quiet pitches or pods and daily meditation or yoga sessions that people can book on to. 

ANIMALS We all love animal encounters right? Do you have the opportunity to provide animal related activities on your campsite? Perhaps you are part of a farm or nature reserve. Consider how the critters you have living on your land could attract more customers.

Farm Life

People, especially children love to pet farm animals and even better if they can get hands on with any farm activities. Consider offering a 'farm experience' where kids can become a farmer for the day by collecting chicken eggs, milking cows or feeding goats.

Nature Spotting Walks

If you are lucky enough to have a campsite surrounded by nature, why not offer a tour introducing campers to the flora, fauna and animal species that reside in or around your campsite.

Horse/ pony riding

Do you have space for horses or ponies? Perhaps you could link up with a horse-riding school and offer lessons or experiences.
