Brighton and Hove, East Sussex

East Sussex is a county in the South East of England.  It has a long coastline full of dramatic cliffs and stoney beaches and is home to some of Englands most historic towns.   The vibrant city of Brighton is right on the coast and is a great place to visit for a family seaside holiday.  It has a lively pier with an excellent funfair at the end, an amusement arcade, fish and chips shops and lots of opportunities to buy Brighton rock.  The "arches" - an area next to the pier along the beachfront - is home to many small shops selling  artwork, jewellery and other creative pieces and if you wander along here there are plenty of bars and restaurants and the i360 - a 162 metre high observation tower with views stretching over the English Channel. Following the coastal path, spend the day exploring the world famous Seven Sisters chalk cliffs at the National Trust's Birling Gap and further along from here, the seaside town of Eastbourne.  Also along this stretch, visit Normans Bay and the historic old town of Hastings.  One of the last beaches on the coast of East Sussex is Camber Sands and it differs from all the other Sussex beaches in that it is covered in fine golden sand (all the others are pebbled) and has the only sand dunes in East Sussex! Inland, there are also many lovely places explore - the medieval towns Lewes and Rye, or the countless villages nestled into the South Downs National Park.
