Teignmouth is a beautiful coastal town with a quaint village feel. Wander along the long, sandy stretches and see the fishing boats pulled up on the beach and the local fishermen mending their nets.
It has a long history and is full of beautiful Georgian buildings, a promenade and a lively high street. The Victorian Grand Pier is a family favourite with lots of fun things to do; arcades, delicious ice creams and gorgeous views.
This is a great place to be with children and boasts a fantastic award winning playground - The Den - which includes a play area, a wet play area and an adventure golf course. For older children and adults, many local water-sports are available to try; paddle boarding, kayaking and coasteering to name a few.
For a cultural day out, the Teignmouth Arts Quarter is full of galleries and interesting independent shops. If you come later on in the year you might be lucky enough to catch one of the festivals - the Food festival in September and Jazz festival in November.
Nearby Shaldon just across the river is also worth a visit; there's a great zoo, plenty of cafes and beautiful walks - try the stroll to secluded Ness beach arriving through an original smugglers tunnel!
