Calendar sync
Calendar sync that copes with more than one booking site
Simple calendar sync works when you have one other booking site. Add a second or third, a whole-site booking or a unit that can be split, and it starts to fall apart: dates get blocked twice, bookings bounce back, a link quietly stops working. HolidayFox handles all of that for you.
What it does
One export link per booking site
Each booking site you import gets its own export link, named after it, such as "Export for Airbnb". It holds your HolidayFox bookings, your blocked dates and every other site's bookings, but not that site's own. So you paste one link into each site, and no site ever gets its own bookings sent back to it.
A calendar for every unit
Every pitch, room, cabin or tent has its own calendar and its own links, not one calendar for the whole place. Bring in as many calendars as you need for each unit.
Whole-site and exclusive-use bookings
Offer the whole place as one booking, alongside the individual units. We link them both ways: book the whole site and every unit closes; book any one unit and the whole-site option closes for those dates. The same works for a unit that can be let as one or split in two.
Checked every 15 minutes
HolidayFox fetches every calendar you've connected every 15 minutes, so a booking taken elsewhere closes those dates here quickly. Other booking sites read your HolidayFox link on their own schedule.
Blocked dates go out too
Close a unit for maintenance, a private stay or the end of the season, and those dates close on every connected site, not just on HolidayFox.
Everything in your own calendar
An "Everything" link holds every booking and block from every site. Add it to Google Calendar, Outlook or your phone to see the whole picture in one place.
Links that are watched
Every calendar link is tested each night: is it still there, is it a real calendar, and are its bookings stable. If a link keeps failing, our team is told straight away and we get in touch with what to change. A broken link is never switched off quietly.
Works with any site that shares a calendar
Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo, Pitchup, Hipcamp, Canopy & Stars, Cool Camping, Google Calendar and most booking systems share calendars with a standard iCal link. If it has one, it works.
Connecting a booking site
- 1
Bring the site's calendar in
Copy the iCal or calendar export link from the booking site, then in HolidayFox open the unit, Calendar Synchronisation, and add it.
- 2
Copy that site's export link
An "Export for" link named after the site appears next to the unit. It's made for that site only.
- 3
Paste it into the booking site
Add it in the site's calendar import setting. That's both directions done. Repeat for each site, or ask us and we'll do it for you.
Questions owners ask
Why does each booking site need its own export link?
If you give every site the same link, each one gets its own bookings sent back to it. Some sites then block those dates twice or flag a clash. A separate link per site leaves out that site's own bookings, so nothing loops back.
Can I offer the whole site as one booking as well as the individual units?
Yes. We link the whole-site option and the units both ways, so booking one closes the other for the same dates. It works for exclusive hire, weddings and events, group bookings, and units that can be let as one or split.
How quickly does a booking from another site show on HolidayFox?
HolidayFox checks every connected calendar every 15 minutes. Other booking sites read your HolidayFox link on their own schedule, which varies from site to site.
What happens if a calendar link stops working?
Every link is tested each night. If one keeps failing, our team is alerted and we contact you with what to change, usually a fresh link from that booking site. We never switch a link off without telling you.
Does calendar sync share my prices?
No. iCal only shares which dates are taken. Prices, minimum stays and other rules are set on each site separately.
Do I have to set it up myself?
No. Send us your booking sites' calendar links and we'll connect everything, including linked whole-site bookings.
