Questions owners ask
Short answers for campground owners. The Book now button is free, and you pay 5% of each booking that comes through us. We set it up for you, and it works alongside Hipcamp and Booking.com.
Getting started
What is HolidayFox and how does it work?
We add a Book now button and a chat to your campground's website, or build you a website. Campers book and pay there, any time of day, and every reservation lands in one calendar. You keep Hipcamp and Booking.com.
Are you another Hipcamp?
No. Hipcamp is a marketplace. HolidayFox is the booking system on your own website. Keep the listings you already have.
Do I need to be technical?
No. We set it up for you, on the website you have or a new one we build. You manage reservations from your phone or computer.
How do I get started?
Tell us about your campground. We set it up with you: we add the Book now button to the website you have, or build you one, and bring in your Hipcamp and Booking.com calendars.
Will this work next to Hipcamp or Booking.com?
Yes. Keep them. Their reservations land in the same calendar as yours, so you're never double-booked.
Can I bring my existing reservations with me?
Yes. We'll help you bring your existing reservations across so nothing is lost when you start.
Money
How much does it cost?
The Book now button is free. You pay 5% of each booking that comes through us. If we build and host your website, that's $16.99 a month. No joining fee, cancel anytime.
What's the difference between the plans?
The Book now button plan is free and adds booking to the website you already have. Website in a Box ($16.99 a month) is a website we build and host for you, with booking built in. Custom is for owners with several campgrounds or 100+ sites. Every plan is 5% of each booking that comes through us.
Are there hidden fees?
No. The Book now button is free. You pay 5% of each booking that comes through us, and $16.99 a month only if we build and host a website for you. Card fees are separate: Stripe, the card-payment company, takes its standard fee (2.9% + 30¢ for US cards).
Can I change my plan later?
Yes. Move between plans whenever you like.
What happens to my reservations if I cancel?
Your existing reservations still stand, and you can download your reservations, guest details and payments. There is no fee to leave.
Running your reservations
Will I get double-booked?
No. Reservations from your site, Hipcamp, Booking.com and other sites that share a calendar all land in one calendar, so the same night isn't sold twice.
How do campers pay, and how do I get paid?
Campers pay by debit or credit card on your website. The money goes to your own bank account. Card payments are handled securely by Stripe, a large card-payment company, which takes its standard fee (2.9% + 30¢ for US cards).
Can I charge more on busy weekends?
Yes. Set different prices for weekends, holidays and peak season, and add offers. They apply on their own.
How do cancellations and refunds work?
You set your own cancellation rules. When a camper cancels, the refund follows your rules.
Can I block dates?
Yes. Close the dates in your calendar and they close on your website and your other listings too.
Do you already send US campers from the marketplace?
No, and we won't pretend otherwise. You use this to take the booking on your own website.
