Here at the Derwent Arms, we boast good quality homemade food and a relaxed environment to enjoy it in. As well as this, you can enjoy the beer garden on long summer days or in the winter get comfy next to our two-log burner stoves in both the bar and the restaurant.

We have a good selection of Ales, Spirits, Wines, Soft drinks, and Hot beverages available daily. We also have a restaurant offering all home-cooked food to suit a wide variety of tastes and preferences.

We have excellent walking areas around the pub, and York City center is only a 30-minute stroll from the pub. If you choose to use public transport, the number 6 bus stops right next to the pub and is a 10-minute ride into and from York City center.
We accept Caravans as well as motorhomes, but you must have your own facilities. There are toilets in the pub, but they can only be accessed when the pub is open at 12.00. Closed on Mondays, otherwise we have something on every evening. Speed Quiz, Karaoke, Paper Quiz, Drag show or Psychic Nights, Live Entertainment every Saturday and Sunday Roasts and Jackpot Bingo every Sunday.

Our beautiful holiday cottages are perfectly situated  a stones-throw from the historic City of York. Our cottages have been carefully designed to accommodate the whole family, the perfect destination for fun filled days out and good times with all the family.

Located a 15 minute drive from the outskirts of York, we are ideal for those who that want to take the weekend at their own pace. So whether you’re looking to cook up some delicious meals in the comfort of your own accommodation, or enjoy cocktails in the beautiful gardens then look no further.

All of our houses are located seven miles East of York, near the Pretty Village of Wilberfoss. We are close to the Yorkshire Wolds & the East Coast. We are set in a rural location within walking distance of  a Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Area . We’re also a short drive away from the Allerthorpe Woods (local wildlife area). We are situated within walking distance of a Thai restaurant. Also there is a direct bus route to the City of York.(Buses stop outside the properties every twenty minutes). The nearest pub is the Oddfellows at Wilberfoss (Quarter of a mile) or  The Half Moon which is a short journey (2 miles) to Newton upon Derwent.

The properties will suit anyone who likes a mix of a countryside setting with close access to city amenities. York is a fifteen minute drive away, however our local Villages boast Stunning Walks, Fantastic Farms Shops & Cafe Bars, The Award winning Pocklington Arts Centre, Golf Clubs, Pocklington Canal, Gliding Club and  Attractions such as The Elvington Air Museum. In addition there is also Burnby Hall Gardens & Allerthorpe Watersport Park.

At Country Living Campsite you are treated to a slice of gloriously rural and countryside life....but here you can enjoy all the benefits (if you wish) of being a stone's throw from one of the most lively, historical and widely visited cities in England - beautiful York.  You are holidaying in a prime location here, and Country Living Campsite offers something that not many campsites can….a chance to explore a lively city by day and then retire to a tranquil and bucolic setting in the evening.

Situated in a conservation area in the picturesque village of Thorganby in North Yorkshire, the campsite is a welcome alternative to large, busy campsites, and is for those seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  The campsite, tucked away down a pretty country lane, is **adults only**, and you can be sure of a true retreat here and a chance to sit and listen to birdsong, read a book or simply watch the world go by.  It is a dog walker’s paradise and  there are plenty of leisurely walks through the surrounding countryside - either along the nearby river or through the fields - and lots of good cycling routes too.  There is also a fishing lake in the village, which forms part of the Lower Derwent Valley Nature reserve. 

This is a small site with 12 spacious and well kept gravel/grass pitches for motorhomes and caravans open all year round.  Each pitch has its own water supply.  There is a toilet and hot shower available (Covid restrictions dependent of course) and the owners here do all they can to ensure a peaceful and tranquil stay with a strict noise policy.  If you want to party all night with a gang of friends this is possibly not the place; it is instead somewhere to **relax**, enjoy the quiet and maybe spot some of the abundant wildlife nearby.

Having said all that, if you do fancy exploring the fabulous city of York then look no further.  Just a few metres from the campsite you can hop on the bus that takes you directly into York within 30 minutes (although it is good to note that this is rural living and the bus is every couple of hours rather than every couple of minutes, so plan your day!)  York really is a city like no other.  Originally built as a giant fortress by the Romans and invaded by the Vikings centuries later, every part of history has left an imprint on the cobbled streets, with gems such as the medieval Shambles (the inspiration for Diagon Alley for Harry Potter fans), the majestic York Minster, ghost walks down some of the most haunted streets in Britain, a huge choice of modern, interactive and ground breaking museums such as the Jorvik museum, National Railway museum, the chocolate museum (Terrys and Rowntrees both originated here) and lots more.  The city centre of York is surrounded by the original and beautifully preserved medieval walls, and these are free to walk around on foot.

With such a huge amount to see both in York and the surrounding countryside of North Yorkshire, you might want to take a few days over it, so make this a proper holiday.  Country Living Campsite is the perfect place to relax and unwind at the end of the day, and if you don’t want to cook, then the excellent Jefferson Arms - a traditional British pub - is only a short stroll down the road. Old York Forest caravan site in East Yorkshire is open all year round. We are 15 minutes dive from the City of York on the edge of 367 acres of peaceful woodland called Allerthorpe Woods. This includes 22 acres of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust nature reserve called Allerthorpe Common. Welcome to Burton Holme Farm.

We are a fourth generation family owned working farm est in the parish in 1895. We have sheep, cattle and arable crops, along side the farming we run a small DIY livery stable.

We do allow dogs here on the farm but they must be kept on a lead at all times please because of the livestock and any mess cleaned up, your co-operation with this will be much appreciated.

Barmby Moor is a quiet village with a public house where you will always get a friendly welcome from the proprietors Andy and John, we have a menu and opening times in a booklet for you to see.

We do also have a post office just down the road selling cards, gift wrapping and a few provisions.

We are on a regular bus route so why not leave your car here at our CL and take the bus into the historic city of York which is a wonderful walled city well worth a visit. Bus timetables are on the leaflets on the table.

Should you wish to go in the other direction on the A1079 there is also another regular bus which will take you to Hull famous for the Humber Bridge with lots of other attractions to keep you and your family amused.

Nearby you will find the market town of Pocklington with shops, banks, supermarkets, cafes, pubs, takeaways, leisure centre, Arts centre and Burnby Hall where there is a beautiful lake and gardens. 

There is coarse fishing available within two miles and water sports at Lakeland Park within three miles.

There is a play park just down past the post office on the other side of the road for little ones to play.

These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operate under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family-friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example.

Our site is very quiet and secluded. It is set in an elevated position (450ft) on the edge of the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and faces south. It has far reaching views over the Vale of York and across to the Pennines. The site is grassed and slopes gently and is equipped with ample hook-ups and water supply. Horses or cattle normally graze in the adjoining fields. The area is good for walking and sight-seeing and is convenient for exploring the City of for York, the Howardian and Hambleton Hills and the North York Moors. The East Coast is an hour's drive away. Easingwold (3 miles drive away) is a very small and attractive town with a good range of local shops including a variety of take-aways. Local pubs provide a wide variety of food at a range of prices to suit every pocket. There is riding, golf (Thirsk and Easingwold), fishing and racing (Thirsk, Wetherby, Ripon, York) nearby.

Set in the heart of beautiful Ryedale countryside on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors. Wrens of Ryedale is a quiet family run caravan holiday park ideally located for a peaceful holiday in the country, yet within easy reach of major tourist attractions.

We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the Professor David Bellamy Conservation Silver Award. We are also a Hedgrow Habitat and Honey Bee Friendly park.

The four acre holiday park provides static holiday home and seasonal touring pitches. We also have a small number of touring caravan pitches available. Our centrally heated amenity block has free showers, laundry facilities, hair and hand drying, and separate dishwashing area. Wi-fi is also available throughout the park.

The peaceful atmosphere and the rural setting of Wrens of Ryedale holiday park is an important part of the attraction of the site. Visitors often comment on how quiet it is even when busy, yet it's not far to the historic City of York, the Yorkshire Dales, the Yorkshire Moors, Scarborough and the Yorkshire Coast. York is an ancient walled city in the Northeast of England built by the Romans.  It is beautifully preserved and signs of medieval life are apparent everywhere as you explore around.  The overhanging timber-framed houses and old fashioned shopfronts of The Shambles make it one of the most historically picturesque streets in the UK.  JK Rowling spotted it too; she used The Shambles as her inspiration for Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter books and you can clearly see the similarities!  The Shambles Market is believed to date back to the 8th Century when Vikings occupied the city; this same market is still thriving today with a vast array of independent retailers selling their wares. Taking centre stage in the midst of Yorks ancient streets is York Minster Cathedral - the largest gothic building in Britain.  Construction of this magnificent place of worship began in 1220 and took around 250 years to complete and it contains the largest amount of medieval stained glass than anywhere else in the country.  Leave a good amount of time to explore this incredible place. York is also well known as being a huge Viking settlement and no trip to this city is complete without a visit to the excellent Jorvik museum.   It recreates the Viking city with an extraordinary amount of detail - sight, smells, sound - and you become part of the action as you are guided around in a small cart exploring 10th century York.  The museum also has a huge array of artefacts some over 1000 years old. The area surrounding York is also packed with fantastic things to see and do.  Explore Castle Howard - one of Englands most impressive stately homes, or take a trip out to see the dramatic Brimham Rocks.
