Corriehall Stopover is a small farm made up of 8 acres of grassland and is based between Cargenbridge and Lochfoot which is approximately 3.5 miles from Dumfries town centre. Situated in beautiful countryside directly on cycle route 7 and central to the 7 Stanes. We live on the farm with our 2 Andalusian horses, which we imported ourselves from Southern Spain, along with our Turkish Kangol dog and farm cat.

We purchased Corriehall in 2015 after completely falling in love with it and the surrounding area and whilst it has taken us some time to restore the cottage to make it habitable, (and which is still an ongoing project!), we have now taken the next step of making the farm self-sufficient by setting up Corriehall Stopover for cyclists and walkers.

Full Refunds are only given if a replacement booking is taken

Opened in April 2012, The Green Frog in Moffat is a full day out where the whole family can spend time in the beautiful, peaceful surroundings of the Upper Annan Valley surrounded by the Moffat Hills. The current owners took over in 2020 and are continuing to develop and improve this wonderful location.

FISHING
Fishing for all the family - whether it be on our 4.5 acre spring fed lochan, with crystal clear waters (where the discerning fly-angler can see the fully-finned fish as well as trying to catch them) or in our smaller lochan, ideal for beginners, (or indeed experienced fishermen or women) who simply want to catch a trout for their supper! All equipment is available for hire if you haven’t packed your own and there are friendly staff on hand to give a helping hand to those trying fishing for the first time.

RELAXING
Perhaps by the very act of fishing – but perhaps also by simply enjoying wandering through our shop, café, small garden centre and childrens play area, or by enjoying a walk outside in the fresh air around Hammerlands itself.

ORGANIC GARDENING
The garden centre is stocked from April to October and with seasonal items outwith. Plants, shrubs, baskets and decorative pots are available

We are a family owned and run business, hoping to "grow" our business and reputation in many ways over the coming years.

Hello and welcome to a rather different Ken Bridge Hotel. Since reopening after COVID, we have taken a slightly different path and the hotel is now being run more on a bed, breakfast, and evening meal basis.

What does this mean for our guests?
Well, our rooms are just as lovely and kept to the same standards whilst abiding by COVID cleaning rules. We have a slightly smaller but eclectic menu which is served 5.30 - 7.45 pm. We are no longer open at lunchtimes or throughout the day, but the biggest change is that we are now only serving food to our hotel guests, and not to the caravan site and/or the general public.

We understand the disappointment that this has created for many of our non-resident visitors, but it is really not possible for us to provide for everyone at this time.

MASK POLICY
We understand that rules are different in each country of the UK, but in Scotland you are still required to wear a mask in a public building. You must therefore, wear a mask whilst entering and moving around the hotel. If this is something that you object to, then please do not enter as you will be refused service. Proof of medical exemption will be required

The Ken Bridge Hotel And Campsite

Site now open and ready to welcome you

We are situated in a small hamlet in the Nith Valley, 8 miles north of Dumfries. The area offers peace and tranquillity in gorgeous countryside, where there is an abundance of wildlife, including the now very rare red squirrel.
Exploring the South West corner of Scotland could not be easier from this location, with a wealth of attractions and activities to explore and experience.
You can be assured of a very warm welcome on to a small quiet ,clean well organised family run site.

Red Squirrel Campsite ( Formerly Glenmidge Smithy )

Eco-friendly wild camping with free firepits and wood
A couple of minutes' drive from the local village and 20 from Dumfries
Modern amenities: individual cubicles with shower, toilet and sink
This one’s a must for mountain bikers and fans of Robert Burns alike: the Open Gate Campsite is a wild site in the wilds of Scotland, two minutes’ drive from the village of Auldgirth in the county of Dumfries and Galloway.

It’s also 20 minutes away from Dumfries and the humble sandstone house where the great Rab wrote many of his finest verses, and within an hour of three of Scotland’s acclaimed 7stanes mountain biking centres. So you can be spouting verse and skidding the slopes in a single day…

The team behind The Open Gate keep things simple and relaxed: no manicured lawns or tailored hedge partitions here, just a big wide field to set yourself up in and stretch out. If that stretching should include outdoor feasting around the flames, firepits and logs are supplied free of charge.

Continuing the wild but civilised theme, there’s a flotilla of brightly hued wheelbarrows for you to carry kitbags, cooking pots, clarinets, etc down to the field, keeping the site safely and quietly car free. A modern shower block has
individual cubicles with a hot shower, compost toilet and sink with cold running water; organic and eco-friendly shower gel is also provided.

You’ll be smelling of roses then as you roam into the village where there’s a café and a pub with hot food... If you feel like a pre-dinner ramble, The Garden of Cosmic Speculation, a 30-acre cosmology-inspired sculpture garden is a 10-minute drive or just over an hour’s walk away, but you’ll need to get your timings spot on, as it’s only open one day a year.

Open Gate Campsite Wild Camping

Just a few minutes walk from the Solway Coast, our holiday homes are nestled in a quiet corner near to our campsite. Surrounded by mature woodland and alive with wildlife, you can enjoy a peaceful break to explore the best that Dumfries and Galloway has to offer.

All our holiday homes are comfortably fitted out with separate dining areas, terraces and central heating. Our Birch holiday home is fully accessible with wheelchair access throughout, lowered work surfaces and a low level cooker, and a large wet room.

The self catering farm house accommodation is set in an idyllic rural location, yet is only 6 miles from the busy market town of Dumfries.
The house is surrounded by rolling Galloway countryside and a short walk across a field takes you through private woodland down to the shore of Lochrutton.
One of the major benefits of living at Auchenfranco is its location; we feel very privileged to be here and we hope you will feel the same when you come to stay.
Although the farmhouse could probably accommodate twice the number of visitors, we have deliberately set the maximum occupation at 4 adults in order to preserve the atmosphere of unhurried tranquillity, with space to relax and chill, away from hassle and bustle of everyday life.
The farmhouse has its own private garden, sheltered with mature trees & shrubs for you to relax in. In front of the farmhouse are paddocks, currently being grazed by sheep. Beyond the paddocks is an area of around 10 acres of broadleaved woodland and reedbeds leading to the lochside. This area is fully fenced off making it a perfect place to exercise dogs off the lead, leaving them free to roam, checking out interesting smells or maybe a swim.
The combination of woodland, reed beds, meadows & shrubs attracts a wide variety of bird species including buzzards, woodpeckers, tree creepers, waterfowl, swallows and huge flocks of starlings to name a few. There are also animals such as deer, badgers, bats, otter & hare in residence but you'll have to be patient or lucky to encounter these shy animals.
You could also while away the hours coarse fishing on Lochrutton Loch, for pike, bream, tench or perch - we'll even supply the worms! Just bring your rods.
Dumfries and Galloway is the perfect place for a holiday, peaceful and relaxing with plenty to see and do.

Andrew and Julie welcome you to Amisfield, near Dumfries (Dumfries and Galloway).

Sitting on its own, Partridge Cottage is a quiet and peaceful corner with beautiful views of Criffel and the Lake District. South facing and sunny (sometimes!) the site is perfect for reading a book, watching the wildlife or simply relaxing doing nothing.

The site is part of a bigger field with a mowed path for walking round and enjoying. Wild life is plentiful with birds, owls and bees all encouraged to make a home in the woods here. The hard site ground is grassed, well mowed, well drained and suitable for large caravans and motor homes.

Cycling, fishing and bird spotting are all close by (a Whitethroat spotted by one of our mountain bikers was a new one to us).

Have a seat in a jet fighter at Dumfries and Galloway Aviation Museum only 3 miles away. It is excellent and well worth a visit. Have a dram at The Globe Inn famous for being Robert Burns favourite howff (a howff is a favourite meeting place or haunt, generally a pub).

In the countryside but only four miles from Dumfries we are handy for the thriving shopping and tourist villages of Castle Douglas, Moffat (famous for its special toffee) and Thornhill (which still have some small quaint village shops).

Sweetheart Abbey, Dumfries Museum and the Camera Obscura only minutes away by car. The local bus stops at the main road and can take you local or if you fancy further a field to Glasgow/Ayr. The 7 Stanes, Mabie, Ae and Dalbeattie and the Galloway Forest trails are all excellent for cycling, mountain biking, dog walking and walking. Whilst out look out for the Red Kites and other wildlife.

Sandyhills, Kippford and Rockcliffe are easy to reach picturesque Coastal villages.

For the little ones there is Dalscone Farm Fun and Mabie Park Farm both with indoor and outdoor play areas. For old and young there is Cream o Galloway and the Cocoa Bean Co.

The site is able to take long caravans and is particularly suitable for Motorhomes.

The CL at South Port ‘O’ Spittal, with sea views, is situated a short 10 minute drive away from the picture post-card harbour village of Portpatrick. The village boasts a few excellent pubs and restaurants overlooking the harbour. The village itself is home to a top notch lifeboat and the famous lifeboat week in August attracts many visitors to the village.

Within one hour of the CL is the Mull of Galloway, the most southern part of Scotland and home to an RSPB nature reserve. There are a number of designated walks in the area including the Mull of Galloway Trail.

For those with an interest in gardens there are the Logan Botanic Gardens, arguably Scotland's most exotic garden, whilst a short drive away to the north are the 75 acres of Castle Kennedy gardens.

A popular day trip is by ferry from nearby Cairnryan to the bustling city of Belfast with its excellent shopping possibilities and of course it’s first rate Titanic exhibition.

The nearest main centre is Stranraer with Tesco, Morrisons and Lidl available for the larger grocery shop and all the other usual facilities.

Within a short distance from the CL are a number of sports opportunities including golf, fishing, etc. The Ryan Centre at Stranraer is an indoor sports complex.

All in all, there is something for everyone within a short drive from Port ‘O’ Spittal.

Please see our Facebook page - Portpatrick Farm Holidays for more information.

Pam and Adrian would like to welcome you to Port Logan Caravan Site, in the beautiful Rhins of Galloway. Port Logan is a wee, tranquil village, immortalised in the BBC series, ‘2000 Acres of Sky’.

Situated on Muldaddie hill, our adults only site provides electric hookup points, WC and basin (cold water only), and chemical disposal point. The site is a grassy, sloping field, so levelling blocks may be needed, and it can get quite blustery on occasions. Well behaved pets are welcome.

Our pitches enjoy spectacular views over the bay, and across to Northern Ireland. On a clear night, the lights of Belfast, and the brightly lit ferries in the North Channel are visible. Officially a ‘dark sky’ region, our night skies are inky black so bring binoculars/telescope. Also, the sunsets at Port Logan are legendary….so bring your camera!

The vistas from your pitch are ever changing; watch boats in the bay, gannets fishing, swallows swooping for insects, and hares boxing…all this without leaving your sofa! If you are patient, you might spot a sea otter on the rocky shoreline.

If you wish to explore, there are many things locally to see and do. Garden enthusiasts are spoilt for choice. On the doorstep, visit sub tropical Logan Botanic Gardens to see rare trees and plants from the Southern Hemisphere (plus a super café). A short drive will take you to Castle Kennedy and Glenwhan gardens. Across the bay from the site is the Logan Fishpond, an opportunity to see native fish in a unique, natural environment. If it's birdlife you want to see, visit the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse, where puffins, kittiwakes, and guillemots nest on spectacular cliffs more than 100 metres high. During nesting season, if you are lucky you may see the peregrine swooping in for lunch! From your pitch, expect to see; oyster catchers, curlews, sparrow hawks, kestrels, buzzards and many other species.

For active types, bring walking boots and bicycles. There are miles of quiet lanes and coastal walks to explore, plus the recently opened Drummore to Stranraer footpath. The area is renowned for fishing. From the pier or shore, expect to catch numerous species including bass and flat fish. Watercraft can be launched directly from the beach, and charter boats are available from Drummore and Portpatrick. For golfers, a choice of courses are available within driving distance. It is also possible to take a day trip to Northern Ireland using the ferry from Cairnryan.

The nearest shop (most Southerly in Scotland) and pubs, are 4 miles away in Drummore. There are two pubs, both serving meals, and one that serves cask real ale. There are cafes at Drummore and the Mull of Galloway, and pub/restaurants in Portpatrick and Sandhead. Stranraer is the nearest town with supermarkets, banks and chemists, plus museums, a cinema and leisure centre.

Dumfries and Galloway is an area in Southwest Scotland - not too far from the boarder with England - and encompasses the counties of Dumfriesshire, Kirkcudbright and Wigtownshire. It is a beautiful part of Scotland, with a rolling coastline of rocks and sandy beaches and further inland, acres of forest and green space. There are some stunning castles to explore around here, and whether you are a history lover or not, you cannot help be impressed by some of these Scottish fortresses. The fairytale Caelaverock Castle in Dumfries is a stunning example of a medieval stronghold, surrounded by a moat and a twin gatehouse. It is great to explore around and kids will love the castle themed adventure park. Threave Castle is a large tower structure situated on an island on the River Dee and is only accessible by boat. If you'd rather a fully intact castle then take a day trip to Drumlanrig, a beautiful 17th century castle with a lavish interior. This is a full day out affair; you can explore inside the castle (it has 120 rooms, 17 turrets and 4 towers) or around the 90,000 acre estate - every effort has been made to make sure you have fun! You can go on a ranger-led wildlife walk, try salmon fishing, go mountain biking or just run wild at the adventure playground, there is masses to do here for everyone. There are many other family friendly parks and attractions across the district, Mabie Farm Park, Dino Park, Cream O'Galloway and Dalscombe farm, just to name a few. You will never be short of things to do with all the family if you plan a holiday here. When you come to Scotland, make sure you include Dumfries and Galloway in your visit!
