Lynmouth Holiday Retreat is set in a truly picturesque part of the country; the Exmoor National Park. Surrounded by undulating countryside and stunning, scenic, sea views, wherever you are on the park you can admire the beauty of nature from your tent or caravan. Our park has maintained its family-owned feel throughout the years and ownerships which is something that we are proud to maintain and build upon moving into new seasons. Join us at Lynmouth Holiday Retreat to enjoy all that this beautiful part of the country has to offer.
Hiding high up amongst the rolling hills of Exmoor and nuzzling the dramatic cliffscape of the North Devon coastline, Lynmouth Holiday retreat settles into the extraordinary backdrop overlooking Lynmouth bay and the gentle buzz of its harbourside town. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or looking to own your own holiday home on site to visit whenever you desire, it’s the perfect place to get away and reset amongst the expansive countryside of Exmoor.

The town of Lynmouth went from a tiny fishing village to a thriving Victorian tourist resort dubbed ‘Little Switzerland due to its rolling hills, sheer cliffs and cascading rivers. Whilst the World around may be ever changing, both Lynton & Lynmouth retain their vintage charm, frozen in the reminiscence of an earlier time, the towns are separated by the highest water powered funicular railway in the World and adjoin the infamous craggy cliffs of The Valley of Rocks.

If the surrounding area was anything to go by, the Retreat itself will certainly not disappoint, with its own dog walking meadow, abundant flora and fauna, spell binding bay views and the South West Coast path sat right on your doorstep, this Coast and Country Park offers an idyllic trip back to nature and simpler times. With its quaint meandering roads, lack of large supermarkets, enchanting hillside valleys and snippets of Victorian trinkets in the way of old cast iron street lamps and red post-boxes, (now turned into lending libraries), Lynmouth Holiday Retreat, like the surrounding area celebrates its enchanting history, natural beauty and varied landscapes at the very heart of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Lee Meadow Farm

**Whitemoor Camping** is set on a small, picturesque farm overlooking the village of Bishops Tawton in Devon. With glorious views over the **Taw Valley**, the campsite is surrounded by fields grazed on by sheep and is just a few miles from the lovely north **Devon** coast. Whitemoor Farm is off the beaten track down a country lane and it is a rural and peaceful spot with no passing traffic. The campsite has been kept natural and wild and the owners are keen to keep it that way; to respect the surrounding countryside and abundant wildlife and keep things beautiful and unspoilt. It is a fuss-free, rustic campsite. They welcome tents and campervans predominantly, but if you do have a caravan or motorhome then give them a call, as they can often accommodate larger vehicles if you book in advance.

The tent pitches are a very good size indeed, and the site has bags of space on the grassy slopes for you to set up camp and relax. Cars are kept off the main camping field, which means kids can roam safely to their heart’s content, and vehicle noise is kept to a minimum. There is a well maintained utility block with flushing loos, hot showers, basins and a washing up area, and the drinking water onsite comes from a borehole, providing delicious naturally filtered Devon water. A large open fire makes a great area to cook on and sit around, and there is also a plot for a bonfire. The campsite has a good, old fashioned vibe of camping how it used to be.

It’s a brilliant place for a big gang. The whole campsite can be **hired out exclusively** if you are looking for somewhere to have a get-together, family gathering or club meet up. You can even get married here, in the lovely functions barn onsite, which is furnished and can be decked out beautifully for any occasion. Aside from the main field there is a hidden camping plot down by the river in a secluded location, which can also be hired out for a minimum of 20 people.

The location of Whitemoor camping is excellent, and while staying here there is absolutely loads to see and do without having to travel too far. Less than 2 miles away is **Barnstaple**, the largest town in Devon on the banks of the River Taw and famous for its lovely narrow streets, fine buildings and the 13th Century Long Bridge. For beaches, you are spoilt for choice, with the sandy shores of **Saunton Sands**, **Croyde** (great for surfing) and **Putsborough** only fifteen minutes away. **The Tarka Trail** - a 180 mile traffic free cycling and walking route across North Devon and Exmoor - can be accessed directly from the campsite and will keep hikers and cyclists happy for days. **Exmoor National Park**, with its breathtaking landscape of moorland, woodland, coast and rivers is also right on the doorstep.

Back at the campsite, you can choose to cook over one of the large open fires or wander into the local village of Bishops Tawton and have a delicious home cooked meal at the local pub - the Chichester Arms. Whitemoor camping is a great, family friendly choice for those who are looking for a rural and well run campsite, nestled in some of Devon’s most lovely countryside.

Westland Farm | Glamping in North Devon, Taking You Back to Nature

Taking you back to Nature, Glamping in North Devon. Mongolian yurt & utterly charming Shepherd Hut and Drovers Hut, both with private hot tubs on the edge of Exmoor National Park

Westland Farm

**Benton View Shepherds Hut** is located just outside **Exmoor National Park** near the village of Benton, right in the middle of the breathtakingly gorgeous north **Devon** countryside. The very welcoming owners have created an oasis here on their working farm; a small and exclusive one-party **glamping** site, set in beautiful rolling green meadows, with a single **handcrafted shepherds hu**t for two, with fantastic views up to the moor and down to the sea. Another tent is welcome if there are more than two in your party, but the site is exclusively yours for the duration of your stay.

The location is very peaceful and wonderfully rural; the Shepherd’s hut sits proudly in the orchard on its cast wheels, with wooden steps leading up to the stable door. It is surrounded by a low picket fence, so you won’t have any friendly goats joining you for dinner, and there is a well kept private garden with a barbeque area and a picnic bench for eating outdoors. Inside the hut there is everything you need; a double bed for two, linen, a kitchenette with gas hob and sink, table and chairs and a log burner (with wood) to keep you cosy on chillier nights. The shower and toilet are in a separate block and there is also access to a larger kitchen with fridge/freezer and microwave should you need it. Nothing has been forgotten. The wood panelled shepherd's hut is beautifully furnished - tasteful but unfussy - with pretty curtains and cushions making it homely and warm, and a welcome pack with a few basics will be there on arrival. Because of the sheep, lambs and goats on the farm, you will have to leave your doggy pal at home for this one….but there will be no shortage of other friendly animals to cuddle if you want to!

It is blissfully tranquil at Benton View. Guests are allowed to wander around the 14 acres of farmland, help with the animals or just sit and relax in the peaceful surroundings. For exploring North Devon you could not be in a better place. It is just a few miles from Exmoor National Park, a stunning landscape of wild moors, wooded valleys and secluded walking trails - perfect for hikers - and some wonderful cycling routes too. The **beaches** of North Devon are also very close by, including the sandy stretches at **Ilfracombe**, **Woolacombe** and Putsborough beach at **Croyde** - renowned as one of the cleanest and most beautiful beaches in the south west. Here you can swim and surf or have a go at something wild, like coasteering! For a more relaxing day trip, hop aboard the **Lynton and Barnstaple steam train**; the only steam railway in the UK where you can travel in the actual Victorian carriages that were designed in the 1890’s. Or take the boat from Illfracombe to the National Trust’s **Lundy Island,** home to a fascinating array of wildlife - including **puffins** - and some seriously dramatic scenery.

Back at Benton View, relax in your private garden at the Shepherds Hut, fire up the barbeque and watch the sun setting over spectacular scenery. Exmoor was Europe’s first ever International Dark Sky Reserve, which makes it one of the best places in the UK for stargazing; so just sit back, and enjoy the view…..

You are welcome to bring a tent for the duration of your booking in the shepherds hut. We do not allow any campers who aren’t connected with the Shepherd Hut so the site remains exclusive. Camping is in addition to the shepherd hut tariff at the rate of £10 per child per night and £15 per adult per night.

We are only 500 yards from Rockham beach and set in some of the most spectacular countryside in the south-west.

This stretch of Devon coastline contains many wonderful beaches – some are quite small with their rock pools and cliffs whereas nearby Woolacombe has 3 miles of golden sands and is a popular surfing and water sports beach.

North Morte Farm has direct access to the south-west coast path and is only a 5 minute walk from the village of Mortehoe with pubs, shops and takeaways.

We are a family run farm, with many breeds of livestock, some of them being unusual or rare breeds. At the moment we have 30 Breeding ewes, a ram and some of last years lambs. We have polled Dorset sheep, a white sheep without horns. These lamb throughout the Winter and early Spring.

Throughout the year we raise pigs to supply the farm with bacon and sausages, for the Bed and Breakfast and campers. We have kept various breeds, and there should hopefully always be some to see here.

We currently have chicken and ducks, which all provide us with eggs, which are again available from the farmhouse. There are various breeds including Khaki Campbell and Aylesbury Ducks, Warrens, Rhode Island Red, Light Sussex, and Welbar hens. We also have geese and guinea fowl.

The poultry have livestock guardians living with them in the form of our 5 Alpacas. These originated from South America, and have incredibly soft fleece. They are very good at chasing away the fox when he comes for a visit. Finally there are 3 horses, who are very friendly.
