If you run a UK campsite, glamping site or a few cottages, Bookalet is on the shortlist. They sell a booking calendar on your own website, invoicing and automatic emails, and call it an all-in-one property management system.
I run HolidayFox, so this page isn't neutral. Both are real booking systems. The real question: which one do you want on your website, and who answers the guest at 9pm?
What Bookalet is, and what they do well
Bookalet is UK cloud software for campsites, glamping and self-catering. They pitch direct bookings on your website, payments into your own Stripe or PayPal, calendar links with listing sites, and a 30-day trial with no setup fee.
What Bookalet does well:
- It's a real booking system: availability, weekly, split-week, short-break and holiday pricing, extras, invoices and payment tracking.

- A booking calendar on your site in your colours. Guests book without going to a listing site.
- Pro and Team add channel management (by iCal or API) and housekeeper and key-holder logins. Team adds owner accounts and commission reports.
If you want a cheap yearly calendar on your site and you'll answer the emails yourself, Bookalet is a credible choice. If you take a lot of bookings on your website, our commission can cost more than £139 a year. We won't pretend otherwise.
What HolidayFox is, and where we are different
HolidayFox puts a Book now button on your website, or on one we build for you. Guests pick free dates and pay by card without leaving your site.
A chat answers guests any time of day and helps them book with you. For now they pay through the Book now button; paying in the chat is rolling out.
Pitchup, Airbnb and Booking.com bookings land in the same calendar, so you're never double-booked. We list you on holidayfox.com and in Google's hotel search, and set it all up for you.
You don't need Bookalet as a second calendar.
- How you pay. Bookalet is a yearly fee whether anyone books or not, plus an optional website builder. HolidayFox's price is in the table below. A quiet month costs less.
- Where the guest pays. Both can take payment on your website. HolidayFox also has a chat on the same site.
- Trying it. No joining fee. Keep Pitchup: its bookings land in the same calendar. Cancel if it isn't working.

Who each one is right for
- Choose Bookalet if you want a known yearly software bill and will answer evening enquiries yourself.
- Choose Bookalet if you run a small agency and need owner accounts and commission reports (Team plan).
- Choose HolidayFox if you have a simple or WordPress website and guests still go to Pitchup after hours.
- Choose HolidayFox if you'd rather pay mainly when guests book than a year up front.

Can I keep Bookalet and use HolidayFox?
Yes. HolidayFox can share dates with Bookalet, so you're never double-booked. But you don't need both.
